Ok lets get this straight...

The premise of moving on from Edler/Tanev is a simple statement. The question is who & how much. Refrain from history & get over that it’s irrelevant for this discussion.

I’ll start with numbers...

$10.45 cap gained losing both.

Resign Toffoli looks to be a priority along with Marky. Say Toffoli 5/5.8m Marky 3/5m.
Net cost for these 2 is $2.5m.

$10m left temporarily barring other moves.

I suggest AP @6/8m leaves $2m.
Stetcher traded for a pick maybe a 3rd.
Saves another $2.3m.
Leaves 4.3m for 2 D.
Tryamkin 2/1.5m
Raffertty .7m
2m cap space created

The D now looks likes this...

Pietrangelo Myers
Hughes Tryamkin
Benn Rafferty

Yeah Nighthawk... it's a nice try, but we're not going to be able to afford AP no matter how much we might want to... TT and Marky aren't signing for less than 6+ mil per year if they sign with us at all.

Fuck, I almost spit my drink across the $5166.00 tough book.

Ron Hextall was the worst GM in Flyers history, there is a reason that Philly vastly improved, because they fired that shithead.

Ron Hextall... dumbass

- Makita

he was great at acquiring picks and drafted about the same as Benning from poorer draft positions, lots of kids on the team from his tenure. Terrible at some things, good at others.

Name on free agent signing Benning made that worked out? I think Miller was close but after that?

I know he signed one guy that scored 31 one year and sucked the next year.

We usually don't do good in Free Agency

- VANTEL

Vrbata and Vanek worked out. Not JTM good but good.

Maybe, just maybe, it's the names you are using, try using Tanev or Edler, only people that would hate it are Lord Hummer and you.

JTM wasn't a free agent. Vrbata gave one good year one bad.

Vanek was decent

Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson and many other players in Sweden have been granted permission by local authorities to return to the ice, something their peers overseas are not pleased about, TSN's Darren Dreger reported on Tuesday's edition of "Insider Trading."

Some players in North America "do not like the idea" of the Swedes being allowed to skate due to the "competitive edge" it could offer if the league returns, according to Dreger.

Having players return to the ice is a recommendation - but not a directive - from the league, Dreger adds. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, arenas and training facilities remain closed in North America to all players unless they are rehabbing an injury.

Last week, the league extended its self-quarantine recommendation for players and staff for the third time, pushing back the date to April 30.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said players will need a two-to-three week training camp if the NHL resumes its season, which was suspended March 12.

Maybe so but players aren’t getting what they would've gotten when this ends.

Other cap moves could also be done.

Why I go for AP is costs nothing but money. I get it he will sign in St Louis 1st if they can swing it & maybe VanCity isn’t in the running if not. Still I make a play for him. He’s a significant add & he knows it & if he sees a real good roster here it’s within the realm of possibility. Resigning Toffoli & Marky would be necessary for this to be remotely possible. Trading for D costs picks or top prospects so I’m hesitant but open minded.

I was looking at Calgary's D They might walk away from Hamonic or Brodie Stone

Canucks might have interest in Hamonic or Brodie.

Other UFAs that could be a lot cheaper Dillon Gudas

There are a ton of D looking for jobs this summer or when ever they come back. I might retract my statement to stay out of free agency

Pietrangelo is still not coming here

Why would he sign in St.Louis? He’s done everything he can do, they don’t seem to want to pay him big bucks. Bye bye!

Staying put & on a winner keeps players wanting to resign. If their GM cannot make the cap room for him he’ll move on imo.
