Finks and then Vainisi were calling the shots. Halas was the one who went around Finks to hire Ditka which caused Finks to quit. - Elbows15
Don't get me wrong i think Finks was good at his job because Halas knew football. I also believe one of the greatest drafts of all time is because you had 3 really good football minds which led to one of the greatest drafts ever
Pace has no owner who knows football. And his ability to upgrade at every position has been wonderful so far |

I think most fans forget just how terrible the talent pool was when Pace became GM. He was basically building a team from scratch. He has definitely made some mistakes along the way, but even if he gets fired, the next GM at least has something to build on.
His choice of Trubustky will forever haunt him. I get the questions they had about Mahomes at the time. No QB from that conference was decent at the NFL level and Pace was not alone in that opinion. The failure to take Watson in inexcusable. |

I have less of a problem with who he chose, but rather that he gave up quite a bit to move up one spot to do so. That was inexcusable.
I remember watching that draft, and when I heard that the bears traded up, I said wow, the Bears are taking Watson. Just never thought they would give up that much to get Trubisky. |

Bringing up Watson, that'll be interesting trade away top 3 wide receiver, OBrien becoming the next Mike Ditka

In case no one bothered to click on Ek's newest:
Just some quick news this afternoon....
*A little more hope today, as John Scott has tweeted out that he is hearing NHL Camps are slated to start June 1.
*Also, Bill Daly, per TSN, answered another question that has been on many of our minds...
"If we start up, what happens if a player tests positive?"
“Everything depends on the facts and the entire set of circumstances,” Daly told TSN’s Ryan Rishaug. “but no, we do not believe that one positive test, even multiple positive tests wouldn’t necessarily shut the whole thing

If they can start playing games in mid-June and finish the regular season by July 1, the final will be near the end of August. A month off and right back at it. Pretty condensed. |

Yup. I think a lot of it is wishful thinking. I'm glad they are at least considering a lot of different options. |

Yeah...they are playing. Numbers are in. Many reasons why total shutdown doesn't make sense anymore..game on |

I don’t understand the point of finishing the regular season. Just about everyone played around 70 games. That’s enough. Just start the playoffs. Anyone complaining that “we might have made it if we were able to reach 82 games” needs to get over it and understand the extraneous circumstances. Whoever the teams are that are currently in line to make the playoffs are the teams that make the playoffs, let’s start it up. Time is precious at this point, and it’s not worth trying to squeeze in a few more weeks of regular season action. |

I would think they'd have to have back to back games during the playoffs. It would be interesting to see if teams would go with their #1 goalie for every game, or if they would play the backup. It could give teams like Vegas an advantage, since they have 2 legitimate #1 goalies. |

oldduffman, this one's right up your alley. Enjoy! - AEL_Fox
The Russian goalie is only 16
He is an off hander reverse glove guy.
He is simply technically sound and physically fluid, and
gumby-like in his flexibility.
I think they might hesitate but if he was my best player available, Russian or not, you call his name...

I don't think many, if any, Chicago fans think we would have made the playoffs, but there were other teams that were contenders. It would be unfair to their fan bases to not give them that chance.
That said, I'd be ok with canceling this season, playoffs and all. |

Vainisi lived just around the corner from where I grew up. Not unusual to see a Bear players dropping buy in the off-season. I remember seeing Al Harris several times the summer before his epic mistake of a hold out.
And while we’re discussing former Bear Management and the Bears new tight end...the QB of the senior Kmet’s State Championship Team was Duke Tobin, Don of the bears former GM Bill Tobin. |

Well of course it’s unfair. But the circumstances are beyond anyone’s control. Bite the bullet and get over it. Gotta use the precious time wisely. The playoffs are the key here, to at least have a post season. 10 more regular season games aren’t necessary. |

unless you even them out with a two - three game subtraction you have to at least EVEN the standings and finish some.
The team(s) want that fairness to it.
the league might be chomping on the bit to include a crapload of teams ESPECIALLY if it includes big strong market teams like Chicago....and others.
So that is why there is this idea of include a large bottom end to the playoff...maybe even include ALL TEAMS to make it interesting?????
IF any shenanigans like this happen, my bet is the draft will be re-shaped like the Crosby draft where all are in it, OR if they do not include all teams the EXCLUDED will be in a lottery where they cannot win first overall, just drop say FOUR slots...and that idea may be prevalent IF they stop league games as of now....
Maybe New Jerseys drop downs the last couple years (Nico Hischier and Hughes) were to0 reminiscent of Edmonton's continual first overall status that there is a block more huge drop downs...I still thought the draft should have been "altered/fixed"prior to the McDavid draft...
You know there is some undercurrent that would simply love Montreal or Ottawa (who have a nice % chance) to go first over-all.
I just dont like looking at the current standings and want to see some big change that stops the hawks chances at 8 9 10 11 or 1 2 or 3
It looks like many things are close to agreement.
1) An early June NHL Draft after the N F L captured huge ratings the hockey league wants in as the only "sport around" with their draft.
2) Win % will determine order before the lottery
3) Training camps for end of or post season start June 1st.
4) what happens if Crosby (or any player) gets the covid19 and he gets shut down...do the other penguins go into isolation as a precaution or does the entire organization turn a blind eye, and just go on?
Anyway I am happy we are gonna get some draft in about 6 weeks anyway... |

Correct I think they’d have to cut everyone off at 68 games.
That’s the best way, the simplest easiest way. Then keep the post season format the same.
Too much tweaking and changing of the system is gonna have a major impact on the playoff format and the draft. Not a good thing. Not to mention it’s wasting precious time.

They probably need as much revenue as possible from this season to keep next year's cap from dropping off the cliff. Of course, they could just disconnect the cap from HHR for next year. |

That’s what the playoffs would be for, ratings will be at an all time high. I just don’t think there’s enough time to squeeze in the regular season too. They’d have to get going ASAP. |

If they miss 10% of games, HHR goes down by roughly that amount. The next season's cap goes down by some similar amount.
It is a really tight squeeze, and a really short offseason. |
