Crawford, party of four! Congrats to Corey and Kristy, and big brother Cooper, on the birth of Camden Emery.
I wonder if the middle name is a nod to Ray. - Chunk
I saw that yesterday, my guess is 'yes'. |

Preliminary results out of New York show 14% of people have antibodies (random test of 3,000 people who were not quarantined and were at stores? Not sure the who exactly was tested).
Interesting..... - bhawks2241
They did it at grocery and big box stores. Much lower than the 50-80% in the Santa Clarita, CA test.
I took the antibody test 2 weeks ago here in the NW suburbs, but it came back negative. |

Yesterday he noted projections showing that peak new incidents of the infections won’t occur until the middle of May - and the guidelines say that they need to see 14 days of declining new infections before opening up.
Based on flawed models? Maybe - but all f the models are based on information that is known at the time - and as the information changes over time, so change the models.
In the absence of effective widespread testing, the models are the only statistically-based projections that they have. They are not fake news, they are not conspiratorially based attacks on Trump....Why they use one model (or some synthesis of several) over another, I have no idea.
I certainly don’t like being shut out from life - and I certainly understand that being able to work from home and not having lost my job and income, my family is much more able to survive the shutdown than a large percentage of the people - which may color my acceptance of the situation. I also understand that somehow we must find a way / ways to rationally gradually incrementally reopen society before a vaccine is available (next spring at the earliest) and probably before R0 falls below 1.
But - that’s where we are now.
Just MHO. - StLBravesFan
He's saying that the government needs to continue to infringe on the constitutional rights of the people. You need serious justification to do so. Gotta show real evidence, not fear.
Allegedly, the reason for the shutdown is to prevent the overwhelming of the health care system. That decision was based on models. We were never close to doing so. Now we have actual information, and decisions need to justified based on that. Explain (the state, not you) why a drive up theater is dangerous. Explain why riding the lake shore is do dangerous. Explain how golfing (walking the course without going in or getting near others) with those I am hunkered down with endangers others. Etc....
Just MHO. |

Or the 49,000 people who died so far - BetweenTheDots
25% of deaths have occurred in nursing homes.
90% of deaths have been 65+
99.99% of death have had a co-morbidity, usually heart condition, diabetes, obesity, high BP, etc.
Here's a thought, have everyone 65+ 'stay at home'. Many are retired already.
Quarantine those with co-morbidity.
Let everyone else take proper precautions (masks, social distancing, etc.) and go about their business.
One last thought, the health professionals are calling anyone that dies and has the COVID-19 infection a 'COVID death'. So, even if you're 600 pounds, have high BP, diabetes and a heart condition, & the virus, if you die, it's a COVID-19 death. |

Call off this season, have draft lottery, then draft, then plan the 20-21 season starting with cap and cbo(s), if any. I understand there will be ramifications, there will be lost revenue, 99% of all businesses have lost revenue, it is what it is. - Angotti
Can't happen, then it will make StanBo look good. Getting a second for only 2 games of Lehner? What a steal.

Governor Cuomo said today that a random study of 3,000 New Yorkers found that 14% have the antibodies to covid-19. As of 2017, NY's population was 19.85M, which means that 2.78 million of them had the Ebola, I mean, covid-19. 20,354 ÷ 2,780,000 = .0073. So .73% of those who get the disease die, in the hardest hit area of the country. - mohel
This doesn't account for the % of population that has encountered the virus and cleared it without becoming infected or the number of people that are currently positive with COVID-19 (which I assume is much higher than current numbers).
Same theory as the flu. If you are healthy(inside the body) you can be exposed and never get the virus because your body's immune system kills the virus before it can infect your cells.
Not everyone gets the flu each year despite the fact we don't social distance. Why? Because a healthy immune system usually kills the virus without an infection occurring. Yearly flu shots only target certain strains scientist think will be prevalent. Flu viruses are also constantly mutating.
The human body is designed to kill off viruses. We encounter thousands of viruses a day.
Illinois is seeing higher cases because we are testing more finally. We have been socially isolating for a month. Given how wide spread this virus really is (based on new numbers from New York and California) numbers will certainly go up when more testing occurs.

Exactly. How much higher would the flu death rate be if 1) it was actually tested for routinely and 2) people that die from respiratory issues or heart issues were also tested for the flu? The CDC estimated flu deaths each year. Guarantee there would be a large increase in flu related deaths. |

A favorite memory of Daze was the 2001-02 season when he broke out for 38 goals and 70 points as well as earned the All Star Game MVP award. Thought that was signs of similar production for years to come but his bad back just hampered him until he retired.
I wasn't an autograph hound so never really sought out player appearances. Of the few autographs I have are from Daze and Thibault as I just happened to be on Michigan Avenue one day and walked by HawkQuarters when they were there. Both were really great and down to earth. - AEL_Fox
Always thought that hockey players were friendlier, and more amenable to mixing with the public. Many summers, when I still lived up there, I'd take the family to Chuckwagon Days, at Maryville. They always had a huge contingent of Hawks players, and they were very accessible. I've also met some on various golf courses around town. Most of the guys are really good people. |

Not trying to be a nudge here, but the Santa Clarita test showed that about 4% tested positive for the anti-bodies. Extrapolated, this number was 50-80 times higher than the confirmed Covid-19 cases in CA. |

So we need to wear masks in Illinois now but that isn't required until May 1st.....if it is so important for mitigation purposes then why isn't that an immediate order? |

I started wearing mine last week. It gives people some time to acquire them if they don’t already have them. |

And the El is still open in Chicago. In NY, the subway is operational, and nursing homes were REQUIRED to take patients who were covid-19 positive. |

Gents, if you close everything, and are firm about what can and can't function, you are going to get more people adhering to those rules. If you are wishy-washy, then people don't know what to do and just go about their business.
Also, if you are over 65, would you be ok being told you have to shelter-in-place? You have to wrestle the car keys away from some of them because they can't see or react quick enough and you want to keep them in their houses? Yeah, I don't think so.
I hate this...H-A-T-E. But I'm pretty sure my wife had it (couldn't get tested because the hospital asked her not to come in unless she had shortness of breath, which she never did, but had EVERY OTHER SYMPTOM, including loss of smell and taste) and she was absolutely miserable and it took a full 2 weeks for her to recover and she's young and healthy. I don't want to take the chance of getting it myself while we are still near the top of the curve and I don't want to take the chance of giving it to someone else for the same reason.
Look, if you want to go out and take your chance, fine. Just please, stay away from me. Just like you want the ability to go back to a semi-normal existence, I want the ability to not get sick because someone wants to get back to their semi-normal existence. |

Sorry if posted already but NHL reportedly to likely use standing points % to determine draft order. If so, Chicago would be 9th which is on par with what many draft sites are predicting anyway. |

Apparently the Governor of Illinois will announce today that the stay at home order will stay in effect until at least late May.
No hockey in Illinois until at least mid-June.
Not that hockey is important compared to 26 million people who have lost their jobs in the past six weeks in the US. - mohel

Who were some of your favorite Hawks players you met at these events?
Although I never personally met him, one of my friends worked for a bit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and did surgery on Steve Sullivan. He got Sullivan's autograph (on hospital letterhead) as a birthday surprise for me with a personal note added.
Then I remember watching a game at the United Center where Ethan Moreau got a leg injury. The next day I saw him (on crutches) and his girlfiend shopping at Marshall Fields. Didn't want to bother him but that was the only time I saw a Blackhawks player out and about doing non team-related things. |

Took my Grandma out of her retirement community in La Grange right as this all went down. Now they won't let her back in for an indefinite period of time. No access to her personal belonging etc... but still charging full price per month and for food/cleaning etc.
Hockey related... i'd love it if they broadcast old games without the commercials! It is hard to watch when I already know what happens and I have to sit through 2-3 mins of commercials every 10 mins or so. |

Yes the lockdown is being extended another month....BUT it’s important to understand it’s under new (Phase 1)guidelines. So some businesses are reopening(May 1st). Some parks, recreational areas will be reopened(May 1st). There will be requirements to wear masks, but still. It’s not like the lockdowns are being extended as they were before, they are being extended with modifications that ease off certain restrictions and are allowing the economy to gradually reopen. This is the key. And after 14 days we will be eligible to move on to phase 2. So by mid-May the restrictions can ease off even more(Phase 2). |
