I'm not defending what he says at all (and certainly not his delivery), but doesn't he have a number of doctors and scientists speak every day during the press conference?

And the big takeaway is that Trump is telling people to inject themselves with Lysol, which is not only a false conclusion, but lazy reporting. Both sides are guilty of shoddy reporting, and pushing narratives. It would be nice if we could simply get the facts out and call it a day.

- Chunk

Doesn't have to be lazy reporting...just print what he says....

"I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning."

I could care less about Republican or Democrat as I am not from USA...but, I hear this guy spout off....and, idiot is idiot, makes no matter what party they belong to.

He is just crazy in some of his thoughts...you can see the medical people on stage with him just cringing...but they look too fearful to dare rebuff him. I guessing like his TV show...he would say "You're Fired"....

Trump quote from yesterday:

And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute — one minute — and is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning?” he asked. “Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.”

Now, he isn’t recommending that people inject Lysol - but he is the one who brought it up.

Not a single “MSM-DNC” headline said the Trump recommended injecting people with disinfectants - not the NYT, not the Post, not CNN, not the WSJ....but they did accurately report his quote.

Fake news indeed.

Clearly the answer to that is "No" or they simply hear what they want to hear.

I'm saying bullpoop like that has no business at a briefing where 26+ million citizens are out of work (with likely more to be added), nearly 50,000 have already died in a few months span from this virus.

- savvyone-1

Look, I'm with you in thinking that he should say as little as possible during the press conferences. He does not speak clearly (especially regarding scientific/technical matters), and is brutally self aggrandizing. I think the extent of his talking points should center on what the government has done and lay out specifics as to what conditions need to be met in order to re-open and how that should be done.

What I "want to hear" is what was actually said, and not have any network (right or left) put their biased spin on it.

It was, if the Bears made that move I'd of been upset as well. Unlike Rodgers this guy is a project and to trade up for him, yikes
- BetweenTheDots

I hope these criticisms turn out to be true but judging on Green Bay's history with qb success I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Wish it wasn't the case as a Bears fan.

Problem is you're smart enough to realize this is a question. Many aren't, and really you can't talk to the doctors behind closed doors

Google Trump disinfectant right now. Headlines:
NBC News: Trump suggests 'injection' of disinfectant to beat coronavirus and 'clean' the lungs

CNN:Fact check: Trump dangerously suggests sunlight and ingesting disinfectants could help cure coronavirus

And a number of others.

No need to do that BTD.
Just get some Lysol and a UV bulb and you'll be all set.
Has forced the makers of Lysol to issue a statement saying please don't drink or try to ingest their product.

I've had enough of this idiot's ass-clownery.
Continue to watch/listen to those "news" briefings at your own risk.

He needs to shut the (frank) up and let the scientists and doctors speak.
Uttering pure bullpoop and speculation is not helping anyone.

"Floating" the ideas that UV light and disinfectant "might" work is the sort of stuff spouted by this president that has no business being said in a briefing that is supposedly intended to provide accurate, up-to-date information on the status of the pandemic and what is actually being done to mitigate its effects and get people back to work.

And yes, I have watched and listened to the clips. You can watch them anywhere and the news reports HAVE accurately reported what was said.

It is a national disgrace.

- savvyone-1

The doctors and scientists have been spot on. The margin of error is embarrassing.

The national disgrace is the usual suspects and the "sky is falling crowd". Like middle schoolers playing gotcha all day. Even though anyone with common sense understands what is being said.

The lack of disclosure of real facts should be telling to anyone with any bit of intellectual curiosity. Seems to be in short supply in many places, as many seem beholden to the concept of the "benevolent dictator".

https://www.zerohedge.com...anic-end-total-isolation#

At the end of the day, the lunacy will end soon. And the great news is it will NEVER happen again, as the people, evaluating "FACTS" will never fall for the totalitarian nonsense again.

CNN - Trump Peddling Dangerous Cures for CoronaVirus.

He wasn't peddling anything. He didn't say go inject yourself with disinfectant nor did he say UV light will cure sick people.

He put forth questions/ideas.

I disagree that it won't happen again. Some year soon the CDC will announce that the flu (and hopefully the covid-19) vaccine for that year will be less effective because the strain going around is different than they planned for. That means seniors and the vulnerable will be at risk. A full shut down will have to occur or an extra 30,000 people will die! How do those who use saving of lives to justify this shutdown NOT call for a shutdown then? Consistancy demands it, no?

You’re right - I don’t like that one - a bit too strong, I think - I’m ok with the others quoted in recent posts here.

The saving grace for CNN is that it was an opinion piece clearly labeled “Analysis”.

Kinda like Fox separating their pro-Trump opinion analysts from their more objective journalistic reporting. If you’re ok with Hannity and Carlson and Ingraham, you can’t be criticizing this.

We're probably going to continue butting heads here. No, he did not suggest. He posed the question (from the video I saw, he was directing it to the Head of Science and Technology at the DHS, Bill Bryan who had just finished speaking). He asked the question.

"And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning...?"

He did not make a suggestion. One last time, I'm not endorsing what he says at all. It's silly.

They can ask all they want. Most people will not abide by it. That is going to be the way out of this now. That is soon the damn will break and there will be thousands of people going about their daily lives. You are going to tell me police and the military are going to force them to stay home? Trump knows this, that is why the phase in will blow wide open in a few weeks in most places.

The assumption is, like the article I linked and others like them, the post mortem in this will show that, while initially well intended, this whole shut down prolonging is nothing buy a political stunt. Prove me wrong, show me 1 blue state/D/leftist/Mainstream media person questioning ANYTHING about the lockdown? Find someone of any of the that group that displays an inkling of optimism? Can't do it.

For some people, that messaging is comfort food for others, its is just the opposite.

OK - we’ll disagree on what we...uhh...disagree on.

But it’s time for the President of the United States to stop saying silly - and consistently untrue - self-serving narcissistic things in his daily press conferences that are supposed to be presenting facts to the American public and giving them (us, although he doesn’t consider people like me to be good Americans, or even American at all) and understanding of the situation.

Yeah, whenever I watch President Trump's press conferences what I see is the emocrat press arguing with and interrupting the President of the United States.

I'm old enough to remember a time when the President Of the United States had a perceived "opponent" reporter, and his parents wiretapped. (James Rosen and his parents, during the Obama regime). One NEVER saw the press arguing with and interrupting President Obama.

That's fine. Stop the silly statements. Such as boating will be allowed, but only two people. Justify that from a science viewpoint. Or that walking without a mask and no people in sight spreads the virus. Or that riding a bike along the lakefront does. Or that sitting in a car at a drive-in movie theater spreads death. Or that shopping at Home Depot for seeds is dangerous, but doing so for paint is not. Or that keeping mass transit open safe.

Can you give a scientific explanation for any of these things? If not, they're silly, and you should be calling them so as well.
