Who were some of your favorite Hawks players you met at these events?
Although I never personally met him, one of my friends worked for a bit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and did surgery on Steve Sullivan. He got Sullivan's autograph (on hospital letterhead) as a birthday surprise for me with a personal note added.
Then I remember watching a game at the United Center where Ethan Moreau got a leg injury. The next day I saw him (on crutches) and his girlfiend shopping at Marshall Fields. Didn't want to bother him but that was the only time I saw a Blackhawks player out and about doing non team-related things. - AEL_Fox
There were so many, but the guy that stood out the most to me was Keith Magnuson. He talked to everyone, very friendly. My favorite chance encounter was at Butterfield, where my foursome ran into Doug Wilson, and Denis Savard, out on the course. Both were very cordial. I also remember running into Cliff Koroll at Rolling Green, also very friendly. |

That's fine. Stop the silly statements. Such as boating will be allowed, but only two people. Justify that from a science viewpoint. Or that walking without a mask and no people in sight spreads the virus. Or that riding a bike along the lakefront does. Or that sitting in a car at a drive-in movie theater spreads death. Or that shopping at Home Depot for seeds is dangerous, but doing so for paint is not. Or that keeping mass transit open safe.
Can you give a scientific explanation for any of these things? If not, they're silly, and you should be calling them so as well. - mohel
Man you are so angry about this.

They can ask all they want. Most people will not abide by it. That is going to be the way out of this now. That is soon the damn will break and there will be thousands of people going about their daily lives. You are going to tell me police and the military are going to force them to stay home? Trump knows this, that is why the phase in will blow wide open in a few weeks in most places.
The assumption is, like the article I linked and others like them, the post mortem in this will show that, while initially well intended, this whole shut down prolonging is nothing buy a political stunt. Prove me wrong, show me 1 blue state/D/leftist/Mainstream media person questioning ANYTHING about the lockdown? Find someone of any of the that group that displays an inkling of optimism? Can't do it.
For some people, that messaging is comfort food for others, its is just the opposite. - TrueGrit
I generally agree, but who is gonna stop it from happening again. It'll become the new normal. |

You’re right - I don’t like that one - a bit too strong, I think - I’m ok with the others quoted in recent posts here.
The saving grace for CNN is that it was an opinion piece clearly labeled “Analysis”.
Kinda like Fox separating their pro-Trump opinion analysts from their more objective journalistic reporting. If you’re ok with Hannity and Carlson and Ingraham, you can’t be criticizing this. - StLBravesFan
It is happening on both sides of the isle. It is hard to find actual news that is not intertwined with a "journalists" opinion. |

He brings up a valid point. It is illogical. You don't think there are lobbyists galore at the federal and state level pushing what they think should open?
Lightfoot just said people in low income neighborhoods don't have to wear masks. That she won't enforce it b/c they will have a hard time acquiring masks. Have we asked COVID-19 to adhere by that? My understanding is low income neighborhoods are experiencing higher case numbers.
The lake front parks are closed but small neighborhood parks are not closed? That makes zero sense.
Government offices are closed and courts are closed but we can continue construction or have people walking around Target all day? |

Losing constitutional rights with little to no justification bugs me. Sue me.
Intentionally putting 26 million people out of work - which will increase suffering and death - based on wildly faulty modeling bugs me. Sue me for that, too.
The real question is this.....why aren't you? |

I won't be wearing a mask on my nightly walks I promise that. I will maybe bring a cotton scarf/mask and have it around my neck and wear it if I go in a store of course out of respect but walking around outside ...absolutely not |

Sure there are.
Anyway, I was discussing your opinion that the President says silly things. I agreed, and asked if you're willing to hold the Mayor and the Governor to the same standard? |

Yes, I am.
I'm not particularly a big fan of either Pritzker or Lightfoot (although each is better than their predecessors, Rauner and Emanual / Daley).
I don't think as much of what they say is as crazy as you think they are - and they certainly aren't as dangerous as Trump.
But - two in a boat - maybe for distancing reasons, although why not three or four, I don't know.
Masks outside with no one around - don't have to wear one, as I understand it.
Biking along the lake front - problem is when everyone wants to do it - then you don't have "6-foot" social distancing.
Public transportation - yeah, dangerous, hard to maintain separation - but how else are those that still CAN work supposed to GET to work? Especially those with lower-income jobs that can't be done from home.
As I have said before: we will see how Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and others that are opening up very quickly (too quickly for me, but...) do with all of this.

Because i have faith the government officials think they are doing what's best for us. Fwiw i don't wear a mask outside.
I trust the universities and their models way more than some guy ranting about how he can't go to home depot for now.
Even though I'm not a religious guy, one line helps me the most, let go and let ...

Yes the lockdown is being extended another month....BUT it’s important to understand it’s under new (Phase 1)guidelines. So some businesses are reopening(May 1st). Some parks, recreational areas will be reopened(May 1st). There will be requirements to wear masks, but still. It’s not like the lockdowns are being extended as they were before, they are being extended with modifications that ease off certain restrictions and are allowing the economy to gradually reopen. This is the key. And after 14 days we will be eligible to move on to phase 2. So by mid-May the restrictions can ease off even more(Phase 2). - SimpleJack

OK - we’ll disagree on what we...uhh...disagree on.
But it’s time for the President of the United States to stop saying silly - and consistently untrue - self-serving narcissistic things in his daily press conferences that are supposed to be presenting facts to the American public and giving them (us, although he doesn’t consider people like me to be good Americans, or even American at all) and understanding of the situation. - StLBravesFan
Trump: Redfield was totally misquoted by the media.
Reporter: Were you misquoted by the Washington Post?
Redfield: I was not misquoted by the Washington Post
Trump: It's possible there will be no virus next fall.
Fauci: I'm totally convinced we will be fighting the virus next year.
My mother: Oy Vey! |

I could not agree more. Unfortunately, you/we are not going to get that. He is what he is. I've moved on to only listening to the experts during the press conferences. That is where the most important (and pertinent) information comes from.

Doesn't have to be lazy reporting...just print what he says....
"I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning."
I could care less about Republican or Democrat as I am not from USA...but, I hear this guy spout off....and, idiot is idiot, makes no matter what party they belong to.
He is just crazy in some of his thoughts...you can see the medical people on stage with him just cringing...but they look too fearful to dare rebuff him. I guessing like his TV show...he would say "You're Fired".... - hawk35
He won't fire Fauci because that would turn him loose to tell and say all.

The doctors/data scientists and modeling have continued to be wrong for the last 2 months. What do we do in 2 years when modeling predicts a severe flu season that will kill 100k?

New York study out yesterday (and discussed by Governor Cuomo) showed 14% of the population has the antibodies, which means they had the virus in their body. # of deaths divided by 14% of the population is well under 1% of those infected. |
