Damnit, now I need to watch the entire series again (yes even the AU Aliens Resurrection) - DariusKnight
Amazing to think the first was released 41 years ago. Still holds up today.
Has anyone seen the documentary “Memory: Origin of Alien”? Highly recommend it if you haven’t. The fact that it ever got make is a miracle. |

GAME OVER MAN! IT'S GAME OVER! THERE'S NO CHANCE! WE'RE DEAD!
*gets smacked* Shut up Hicks! - DariusKnight
Isn’t it Hudson that says that line, not Hicks?
Hicks is the guy who’s in Terminator. Hudson’s played by Paxton.
Favourite line:
Ripley - This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training.
Hudson - Why don't you put her in charge. |

It’s not just away from home but as isolated as possible, and then when it’s done you end up putting your family at risk, so you need to spend another two weeks sequestered in your home away from your family.
That’s why my round robin idea is so great, because the Habs could technically still make the playoffs... - 1970vintage
This is pretty accurate . Only problem is it might not answer financial situation . I think we all know here that a lot of these decisions are being made strictly because of money. |

I bet you if the league asked the players to forego their final paycheck or “give back” whatever is in escrow to help the owners survive the cancellation of the season and loss of all playoff revenues for the safety of everyone and the security that if they wait and do it right the chance that they can be successful again as soon as October the players would probably agree. That might not be enough, but it would be a start. |

100%. It has nothing to do with the “love of the game” or “for the fans”. It’s about finding revenue. |

Then they have no pride as hockey players. Fans want to see the season commence and playoffs, you're doing it for them. The league needs revenue to ensure things don't get completely fvcked up money wise. I doubt players want the league saying "With the lost revenue, we are cutting your salaries in half and dropping the cap ceiling to recoup costs." because they can do that. The league will already lose revenue for next season when they can't have fans in stadiums. - Retinalz
I heard JT Miller say at the start of isolation he thinks trying to finish this is dumb.
Sorry I could not disagree with your post more. I think there is a lot and by a lot i mean big numbers of older players with families that think this is stupid.
I get why the NHL wants to do this . It is all about money. Some big leagues in Europe have cancelled the season already. This isn't fake news . Lets not kid ourselves though they are risking lives here to finish the season and get back some money. |

I kind of laughed reading that. Most owners don’t rely on NHL revenue to sustain their businesses.
But I understand what you’re saying. It’s the staff that work for franchise operations that will suffer the most. |

actually, the league told its owners to payout the remaining paychecks (there were 3 left when the season stopped) in full.
also, it's not up to the players to "give back" what is in escrow. they have no control over that. it's strictly an accounting issue.
the only reason that the players can be "principled" about this is because it's the end of the season.
had this been at the start of the season, you'd hear a lot more players talking about wanting to get back because they "love" the game. |

NHL and NHLPA staff are in daily contact, and have been since the beginning of the pause. Things are still in Phase 1 (self-isolation). Phase 2 will be getting players back in small groups at NHL facilities to work out and skate in the markets which will allow it. TBD on when.
and again, because I feel I need to add this disclaimer every time I update things, there may not be any hockey again this season. The NHL/NHLPA will plan for it, but doesn't mean they can pull if off. |

How’s Sweden’s model doing ?
Are they risking lives ?
Seems to me that their model is proving that lockdowns and quarantine of the healthy was never the correct answer. I keep hearing wait and see their death toll with be astronomical. I’m still waiting to see ....as they continue to go about normal life with some minor social distancing.
