Well, at least we won’t have to worry about the Canucks in November next season. That’s a plus for the top 10 finish gang

in the most simplistic terms, that may be right but it misses the point.

the shelter in place, social distancing and self-quarantining was about flattening the curve. it was about not allowing the pandemic to get out of control and overburdening our medical system/hospitals to the point that the health infrastructure in the province/country would collapse.

there was never any possibility of bringing deaths to zero so to say "how many deaths are acceptable," is pointlessly confrontational and divisive.

this has always been a balancing act between health, economy and personal freedom.

i reiterate and have always said that we should follow the advice of medical professionals. if and when they say that we can ease restrictions, we can and should. even they will acknowledge that we can't bring deaths to zero so why pretend that's what the issue is.

- RealityChecker

I think we all understand that people are going to die regardless and what the plan from the medical advisors was about.

However, there are different routes that can be taken in regards to opening things up. Instead of using deaths as an acceptable number maybe he should have worded it acceptable risk.

if that's true, that means 100% they are finishing this season.

I go to CapFriendly almost daily to check signings , waivers , etc . I see the Wings signed Brome to a one year deal at 925k. No big deal no one cares.

As I was in there I noticed the Leafs spent 95 mil this year in salaries and I am curious to what they will do this coming season.

They are top heavy in the forwards and have four excellent forwards but the cost is not sustainable . Do they move one? Willie would be the obvious answer but he is giving you the best value for the $$$

I think they overpaid on Muzzin but at the time of the signing was close to accurate. I think he is in Tanevs range 4.5

If they can fix the D they will be good and this year they have an opportunity. Pietraangelo or Tanev could sure help that back end but they do have some good kids also.

I'd trade that pansy Marner if I were them. Then sign Pietro and an actual backup goalie.

I'm a richard at work too, I don't discriminate. It doesn't look good on my semi-annual employee engagement survey, but what am I supposed to do, not be me?

Marner >>>>>>>>>> Nylander

But the same is also probably true on the return if you trade him as well.

soft like a feather boa.

edit: the premise was of the 4 big forwards, Matthews, Tavares, Marner and Nylander what would you do to shore up holes elsewhere on the team.

Don't think so but can play for the Comets if season resumed.

Next year to play on the Comets he needs clearance from IIHL otherwise goes back to SHL.

He can play for Canucks next year.

Every prospect I’ve spoke to this year said Nils Höglander was on another level at this years #Canucks prospects camp. He’s ahead of all of them, I wouldn’t be shocked if he makes the Canucks out of camp.
It just depends on how Travis Green feels about him.

So according to this we're out of the playoffs if the season doesn't resume.

Written by an idiot. It was already suggested that if they don't finish the season ans tart playoffs right away, they would simply go by Points % or scale back every team to 68 games and go based off that. In both scenarios we are in.

NHL and NHLPA have a scheduled call today. Self quarantine extension and hopeful initiation of phase 2 likely discussed. Can’t see the players agreeing to any restart plan that doesn’t include family time. All of the above governed by health authorities

If they finish the season, you could do a crunch schedule. teams have between 10-14 games left? make it all back to back and after 4 games they get 2 days off with family. Something like 4 games in 5 days(insane i know), then 2 days off. season over in 3 weeks. Playoffs start a week later.

I think they should do their training camps in their own cities, that makes the most sense. If you want to try and squeeze in the remainder of the games in only a few locations you could bring teams to centralized spots for a week/10 days to get it done.
