That's asking a whole lot of the players and their families. Already tough enough throughout the year, but to go 3+ months during these difficult times is a bit absurd. - NewYorkNuck

One of my favorite movies of all time. Excellent acting, great story, and as true to life as a 18th century Royal Navy movie can be. It shows the day to day ship life, Boy sailors (as there was in real life), and non stop rum that helped Britannia rule the waves. Also, one of those rare movies where they didn't ram a love story into it so it would sell. It really is a hidden gem that was overshadowed by the IMO, terrible, but more commercial Pirates of the Caribbean franchise that came out at the same time.

"Some players could be away from their families for 3-4 months and I think that's way too much. I'm not the only one thinking like that, I'm sure."--Phil Danault.

I asked John Tavares about this, and he confirmed that's come up in the Return to Play Committee discussions... some players concerned about being gone from their families too long while living in a centralized site bubble
I know I have mentioned this a few times. These guys are human beings first , pro athletes second. - VANTEL
Agreed, Cancel the season, hand out some extra picks for the teams that spent on rentals(only fair since teams only got a few games before season cancelled) or Push them to next season. Do a 31 team draft lottery based on standings. Prepare for next season and possibly starting it late. Give Quinn the Calder

Just started watching Mindhunters on Netflix last night. If you like the True Crime genre it’s pretty good. I’m only 3 episodes in but it’s worth a watch. - 1970vintage
Great series all through. The guy that played Ed Kemper was outstanding. Two seasons so far but no word on a third I think.

We're watching a bunch of different things all mixed up. Zoo which is terribly cheesy but still we're a season and a half in. Lucifer, another terrible show with awful acting and writing, but Lucifer is so charming we can't stop. Money Heist. I'm watching it dubbed into English because my Spanish isn't good enough, but I'm enjoying the mind games and now Mindhunter. We're also got Treadstone and Bosch rolling on Prime, and I have a few series on Crave mid season.

I guess it's all perspective. Lot of people have jobs that take them away from their families for an extended period of time like mining, forestry, oil & gas, military, transportation, etc. etc.
Unfortunately they aren't compensated like professional athletes but are still expected to do their job without complaint even in these difficult times. But I guess resource and infrastructure jobs are essential and pro NHLers get paid millions for playing a child's game so they have a right to complain about unnecessary hardship... wait a second.

I can see the NHL trying to have some sort of recoup and conclusion including drafting and playoffs.
I think a 32 team two week bracket like NCAA basketball. Final two teams 2 of 3 games series.
There's only 31 teams. Maybe whoever was in 1st in the league gets a bi to round two?
Also, this would mean that the Kings would have a shot at the cup... (which I'm in favour of) - 1970vintage
There is no real fair way . I like Retz suggestion cancel this year 31 team even slated lotto draft , but that is very unlikely to happen and yet still a possibility .

I don't want to sound like I don't think the first 68-70 games counted or anything, but really, do they? At this point, I'm not sure. Plus, seriously, does anyone think that the Wings or Senators would actually win a game (or more than one)? Their teams were bad. It could benefit a team like the Sharks, but seriously, goaltending. The best teams would still find their way into the final four.

Started Treadstone kind of Meh so far hope it picks up.
Jack Ryan series was much better on Prime I thought.
If you are really looking to kill time the Lucifer series doesn't even come close to the books. The graphic novels by Mike Carey are outstanding if you are into that sort of thing. The main girl on Lucifer is so bloody hot tho...

I know I have looked at this year as entertaining and no matter what the final decision is I will walk away saying it was a good year.
Unusual circumstances happened along the way same as if a war occurred it was out of the leagues control.
I think there are many ways to make this an exciting off season from awards , draft, buyouts , trades , caps , betting , hiring's and other things.

Yeah, Jack Ryan was decent, Treadstone has stalled for us. I could see how Lucifer could read better. I'm not really into the whole religious theme in the show, but I like the actor and yes, the hotness

I think if they do restart or do some tournament thing, the teams that could benefit the most are the bubble teams like the Canucks. Because in short spells, we saw how dominant they could be. The Preds, the Jets etc are all capable of putting together a solid run based on their core players. It could mean upsets for some, but hey, that's what last year's playoffs had so...

I will watch if there is hockey but I stand firm I think it should be canceled . I do understand them wanting to get some money back but they are putting money ahead of good decisions.
DR Tran just said the number of cases are doubling every 16 days.

I have been enjoying reading about your movie choices, although I haven't seen a one of them yet. Probably not likely to either.
If I can force myself to watch a movie it might be this one.

I kind of agree with you on this tbh, boohoo the most privileged people in the world have to live in less than ideal circumstances while still making way more than any human conceivably should for what they are doing. Let me get my violin.
