Ya, I'm very curious about that too. How long before you're able to infect someone, and how long before the test picks it up you have it. So much to learn...

If teams could reliably test people entering the building, no problem right? You could even have fans...

Read this morning that a company in India has started mass production of a vaccine- it doesn’t have “proven” results or approval yet, but they are going ahead anyway... article in The Economist, take it for what it’s worth.

The question really is what is the acceptable amount of deaths?
- Marwood

The obvious answer is 42.

So, leagues are going to run at some point.

I imagine the NFL season will start right around where it normally does. They might drive ticket prices up, hand out masks, apply social distancing measures, limit fans but they're going to have games. I wouldn't be surprised if they tested on site.

I'm curious about the international plan. I would imagine it gets scrapped or maybe keep one in Canada/Mexico if the other countries allow them.

As for the NHL, I still like my earlier idea of reducing next season's schedule and awarding a Cup this season. They don't have to re-start the season until September if needed although unlikely, they could start the other one in January. The poopty ice effect of late season hockey should be mostly offset by reduced crowds.

83 is also a prime number and it just happens to be the number of one of the worst fourth liners in the National Hockey League, Jay Beagle, so worst case scenario is obviously 83.

in the most simplistic terms, that may be right but it misses the point.

the shelter in place, social distancing and self-quarantining was about flattening the curve. it was about not allowing the pandemic to get out of control and overburdening our medical system/hospitals to the point that the health infrastructure in the province/country would collapse.

there was never any possibility of bringing deaths to zero so to say "how many deaths are acceptable," is pointlessly confrontational and divisive.

this has always been a balancing act between health, economy and personal freedom.

i reiterate and have always said that we should follow the advice of medical professionals. if and when they say that we can ease restrictions, we can and should. even they will acknowledge that we can't bring deaths to zero so why pretend that's what the issue is.

We're told no decision has yet been made on timing of NHL entry draft but there is significant, if not widespread, opposition among GM's to holding it in June if this season is still in play...

There will be some steals out there with the lack of scouting, late bloomers, incomplete scouting reports. Do we keep #1 this year or no?

What’s the rush for the entry draft anyway? It’s not like kids in the CHL are going to sign KHL deals. Only the top 2 or 3 18year olds have a chance of cracking an NHL roster. Most everyone else will simply go back to their junior teams next year anyway.

Yeah yeah, it’s something for fans to talk about. Big whoop.

Figure out what you are doing for the rest of this year, then worry about the draft, free agency etc later.

i know you were but there is a sentiment out there that we shouldn't re-start anything even though the medical pro's are saying that we're getting closer to easing restrictions.

i didn't mean that against you (although i acknowledge that it came across that way.)

It comes down to keeping interest in the NHL during the shutdown and also where the kids will play next year . It will help Jr teams to plan their roster.

I know but this is the excuses they are giving . I am only the messenger.

It’s like a restaurant trying to figure out what their dessert special is going to be before they even know when they will be allowed to open to the public again.
