He can at least hold his own in a middle pairing. - Michael Pachla
What would you do then if u aren’t trading any defense?
Just UFA route? |

LeBron is a great player and will finish his career with stats. He’ll still be #2. |

Well it was a 2014 trade and you went on until about 2017.
The Skinner Contract isn't yet a year old, but you've been telling Flacco to get over it for 6 months or so. - Der Kaiser
He goes on about it a lot
Way, way more than i ever even come close to with the McNabb trade
If u would’ve brought up ROR,
would’ve been a much better comparison
But even that wasn’t just me bringing up ROR
He brings up Skinner just about any chance he can |

The .906 was after barely playing for 3 months. He did have a .926 in Oct as well.
Calgary was averaging 3 goals per game this season compared to 2.82 for the Sabres. That equals about 1 extra goal every 6 games. Not a lot more.
You can believe the injury rumor or not, but playing a total of 3 games in a 60 day stretch tells me there was probably something wrong with him other than just not playing well. - adambuffalo
He was .908 the year before with a 3.00gaa
18-25-5
Baffles me u wouldn’t want to improve on that
If u have any kind of legitimate source or link to the “injury” then by all means...

I also said he's better suited to play closer to 30 games, not ask him to play more games than he ever played in his career at 33 y/o. Last year he played 1,200+ more minutes than any of the previous 4 years and 800 more than his previous high.

I just pointed out that Cap# doesn’t dictate where we should play a guy - jdfitz77
You should have pointed out that where Saturn is in the night sky in August has no bearing on where Okposo plays, would gave been just as relevant 5o the conversation.
Honestly, you thrive on antagonism.

a 40 point player who floats all game long should not be the desired second line winger in a blue collar town
esp if they want it to be a cup winning team |

Are you good with paying Montour and Risto a combined $11m?
I'm not. They're essentially the same player. We dont need both of them. Unless one of them plays center next year - jcragcrumple
They don't need either.
Trade them both in packages to create a higher valued return.
Joker can handle 2RhD
Borgen can play 3RhD
Sign a decent stay at home RhD for 1st pairing with Dahlin.
Trade Miller.
That is likely $14m - $15m in 2nd/3rd pairing defensemen that is redundant.
If your squimish dumping 3 of them, keep 1 for another year. |

ullmark in year 2 improved his numbers big time
2.69 gaa
.915 save %
better then most number 2 options on competitive teams
I mean his .915 save % is the same miller had for his career and almost the same GAA
Ullmark is not the problem for the backup goalie
Hutton however is the problem for the starter |

True for last season and this season as a transitional year.
Next season Ullmark is the starter ...and I'm ok with him.
I'd rather focus on
2C
2RW
1RhD
2Lhd
Fix those, first IMO. |

Never said 2nd line winger, and I guess Skinner shouldn't be on the 2nd line then. Said Kahun Cozens Mojo would be a good 3rd line, cause that means you fixed your 2nd line. |

Here's the thing though: Lindy's system left Miller out to dry in ways Ullmark never is. Watching the Sabres Classic replays for the last couple of weeks proved that in ways I had entirely forgotten.

I'd play Dahlin with Borgen. Borgen will be 24 in December. He's not a kid. Dahlin will be on his 3rd year. If you can sign someone like Del Zotto or Gudas cheap to be in the rotation, that's fine
Dahlin-Borgen
McCabe-Joker
Pilut-Miller
Del Zotto - this is merely an example of a cheap UFA. I'm not suggesting him specifically before someone screams that he sucks
There's a good balance of puck movers and physical defensemen.
Risto and Montour will not be missed much and can bring in the fabled 2C |

Buffalo was the only team who could offer 8 years.
So off the top he got $9M more then he would have gotten anywhere else.
Great teams make unpopular decisions all of the time. - Pegullaville
When was the last time the Sabres were able to land a 30-goal scorer? And when was the last time Buffalo had a 40- goal scorer? And in waiting as long as they did for both of those scenarios, why would you let that kind of player sign somewhere else for what would amount to a million or less per season? |

Don't miss the 2nd period tonight. I always remember Woolley for the shot heard round the world, but Zhitnik was, dare I say it, en fuego for that playoff run. |

Not in my opinion. His job on that pairing will be to be a defensive babysitter. If he can play in his own zone, he should be fine. If he fails, then you just move Joker there, which is where he will be eventually anyway |
|

Risto has to be on the block. He doesn't want to be in Buffalo. You move him and move on from there keeping what talent you have to surround Dahlin with. |
