we had griffith and pouliot as our 3rd line wingers - navinrjohnson
Wasn't talking about that Center |

No, i didn’t
Soon as LA gave him a chance he’s been playing well ever since
GMTM has some weird bias against him bc he was a Darcy pick & not one of his guys - jdfitz77
yet the kings left him unprotected at the expansion draft...
he had two stints with buffalo and he looked as if he'd be a bottom-pairing d-man at best...
it wasn't a very good trade, but it's not hard to see why he made it...they needed forwards and had some excess d-prospects...and I really don't think it had anything to do with darcy as mcnabb was built to play a heavy game, which is what gmtm seemed to be going for |

They should have paid the cost of Mittelstadt to acquire Trochek
Instead we're going to be stuck with some bargain-bin 30-something that Botterill can get for a 3rd and Laaksonen because his ego wont let him admit he whiffed on Mittelstadt - jcragcrumple
Trocheck is fine, but hardly anything special either.
Would have definitely been a good stop gap and settle in the 3rd line role once Cozens was ready but he is not the Trocheck of two years ago (I mean the guy did break his leg so I’m not surprised) |

It’s bananas that you’re trying to justify the trade years later when it clearly sucked |

Vladimir Sobotka
Patrik Berglund

1st round pick
2nd round pick - navinrjohnson
point taken...
should have added, unless said player and clueless owners have their gm over a barrel...

That's not even remotely true. Without Reinhart, our best natural RW is Okposo and we have no forward trade chips.
Bennett and Girgensons are duking it out for a 4th line LW spot.
Again, totally disingenuous. The problem isn't sam Reinhart, the problem is that nothing has been done to address the problem that has existed since the summer of '18 - jcragcrumple
Would that be 2nd line center he can't play?
And that he is a legit #1 line player. Who wants to bet how many teams he plays #1 line on besides the Sabres and not next to Jack? I bet none. |

Living in the past, thinking about what could have happened is futile. It doesn't give any real sense of what would have happened. A player's success or lack of success can definitely depend on who they are drafted by and how they are developed. Every player is different. It's the way teams are built and how they handle their players that really can define a players future. Of course there's exceptions, those guys are the 'generational' type players. |

Understand that, but the player has to show it to. Rhino is who he is a good Complimentary Player. |

a few people I dated in my younger days, they did not age well and look nothing like their mothers did
so there is that |

Look at the amount of wingers that could have been had the last few years via UFA or trades.
They are a lot more attainable then good Center man. - Pegullaville
maybe...but where are they when the gap between reinhart and the next best rw wing has been so huge |

The trade was a bad trade. However, it also wasn't anywhere near the reason this team is where it is now. McNabb is a non-factor. |

Raise hand - I'm more pissed about who he is. By the way Montour and Risto aren't the same player as many contend. One has strength, big body, aggressive, has hands, skates; the other a nice skater, has hands can play both sides. - GilPerreault11
I'm with the "who" Sam is as a player. Tanking for him doesnt help. Slow, bad hands and streaky. Part of a lot of losing.
Kaiser made a good point, he has outplayed his contract. Most 2nd overall players shiuld outplay their rookie deal. Sams outplayed the 2nd contract as well. 👍
It's the next contract for sam that's gonna hurt. I believe strongly that his points are a reflection of playing with John jack. Gonna make the same mistake they did with skinner. He actually had 40 goals in 1 season not a high if 25. |

I am sure a lot of players like skinner and vesey would rather play with reinhart as their center then the crap they got dealt this season |

He didn't whiff on Casey just didn't develop him right and they're still coddling him when you tell fans hes 7% body fat and in the best shape ever and he's still chubby and still the Same person
It isn't helping him |

Reinhart has 50 points which would put him in the top-15 of RWs according to NHL.com's stats, so he's a top-line RW on half the teams in the league.
Not the problem. |
