Why does discussing sam reinhart get you this upset?
- Boss34
life is too short
it's never a discussion, it's a daily bashing
you would think he was the 60th ranked RW instead of in the top 15
when you expire, your memories on here and a few others will be how bad sam reinhart was, despite the numbers he put up |

These discussions are fun, probably better none of us run the team, we might screw the team up even worse, if that could be done. |

Schefiele on who he’d vote for the Hart.
“I’m not sure if this is a controversial opinion, but my vote goes to Jack Eichel.
Look, I play in the Western Conference. I know — I know — how good Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid are. They are incredible and just unplayable during some shifts. Leon is probably the smartest player in the game. Connor … well, everyone knows him. And guys like Nathan MacKinnon and David Pastrnak deserve some praise as well, absolutely.
But, like I said, the most valuable player to his team? Jack Eichel.
He’s 23 years old, he’s got 337 points in 354 games and, believe me, he gets the toughest assignments every night. Whenever we play Buffalo, he’s the first guy we look to try to nullify. He’s a monster in the offensive end and an absolute pain to play against when you’re trying to score. He can do it all. He’s one of the most complete forwards in the game. And he doesn’t take a shift off. I’ve been watching a lot of the Sabres this year whenever I get the time because of how dominant he is when he’s on the ice. Every time he steps out there he seems like he’s just got another gear over everyone else. To do that night in and night out? That’s impressive.
Love this play here from him.
It’s almost like Jack has the puck already and he’s actually just trying to beat the Blackhawks’ defender. Look at the way he feints his hips toward the boards, he wants the D-man to drop the puck to his trailing teammate. He’s a few seconds ahead of everyone on the ice. Then he beats future Hall of Famer Duncan Keith and draws the pokecheck out of the goalie before putting the puck in the net. There’s like 15 small things that happen in that play that most guys in the league can’t do.
There are guys who might look at the scoreboard in a game like that and not forecheck with that sort of focus, that sort of intensity.
But Jack doesn’t take a single shift off.
That’s why he’s my MVP.“

I have said it several times
Eichel might be the most improved player in the NHL this past season
his two way game is miles ahead of the previous few years |

Tanking is when a team is not trying to make the playoffs so that they can have a higher probability of getting good draft picks.
I googled " tanking in sports"
They were not trying to win the sam year.
Maybe you have a different definition? - Boss34
I think this is a more apt definition: tanking is losing on purpose to get a top draft choice and is an organizational decision. |

Despite our lack of team success currently, I still believe players around the league see what we are building here.
In the players poll last offseason on ESPN a lot of teams voted for Buffalo as the surprise playoff team and a team.
With Eichel and Dahlin they will come. I don’t believe free agency should be the way to go regardless but I still think the perception of the teams future is a team on the rise around the league. |

give it up
the number one goal, even when the 13-14 season started, was to land either eichel or mcdavid in the 2015 draft
period
end of discussion
some people think that just because player x, y or z was picked second overall then they should be as good as eichel or malkin, which only shows how clueless they are with the process |

problem is Murray was down to 3 guys, knowing Florida was taking one of them
and Leon was not on Murray's short list |

Then he deserves to never have an NHL GM gig ever again.
Like Jesus Christ it took me a few hours of watching highlight packages and game rewinds of Prince Albert to know Draisaitl would be the more dominant player.

It sure would have been a surprise.
82-85 points projected, nowhere near a playoff team, and they proved me right.
The games Jack missed, laughable...looked like an ECHL team.
God job Botts, especially in year 3!
Let's keep him and hope he can suddenly turn into GM of the century. |

I mean the guy hasn’t made a single move yet in his tenure that would suggest he’s trying to “win now”. Everything he’s done has been in his vision to build the best possible team that can consistently compete in the coming years for a long time.
I do thank Botts though for Dahlin, Cozens, and Joker. Hopefully can say the same for Mittelstadt at some point or maybe he’s used as a trade chip to address the roster now.

I'm a little dumbfounded that Adam Henrique was suggested as a stop gap 2C for the team, yet many poo-pooed the idea of trading for Trocheck, saying they want to see the Sabres do better.
Henrique, 30, 4 years x $5.8m, ~0.568 PPG. 47.2% FO% ~49% Corsi with ~48.8% OzS
Trocheck, 26, 2 years x $4.75m, ~0.665 PPG. 51.2% FO% ~52% Corsi with ~49.6% OzS
The logic escapes me. |

You take either one, as the team is in dire need, while neither are ideal, but the reality is you cannot wait for the perfect 2C candidate to come around. A clear move needs to be made.
Long term, you rely on Henrique being your 3C while Cozens or this year's pick supplants him as the 2C in the next 2-3 years.
During the time it takes for that to happen, you either sign someone like Brassard to a one year cheap deal for this season only, or you let Cozens/Johansson play 3C and Henrique can shelter Cozens until he is fully ready. |

Would have liked to see what Botts could have done with the assets the prior GM was given. Botts has failed in ways, but when 1 arm is held behind your back because you are lacking a system that can't support what you want to do and the other arm being held by meddling owners. Both GM's failed or have failed so far for various reasons. |
