So COVID accelerated their demise, and ultimately lead to their demise happening sooner than it would have, but yet you think that COVID should not be listed as their cause of death?
There are also others who are in the same scenario above who never got tested for COVID and that was not listed as their cause of death when it was likely the cause.
Those people were likely not going to get 'better', but that also doesn't mean they were going to die when they did without being infected.

I understand the move to get Frolik, but the timing was bad. The 2nd line was producing very well and when Sobotka went down the production disappeared. Seeing Frolik as a similar player and trying to replace the role Sobotka played made sense. Like I said earlier, the timing was bad. Perhaps Tage was supposed to fill that role, but he gets hurt in his first game up.
I don't hate the moves he made this year, just think that every move he made was made too late. - adambuffalo
Didn't like that move, he has had to make trades that should not have had to be made. I don't like some of the things he's done, has he helped himself no, but he came into a system that had to be rebuilt, from the bottom up. |

They love the triple threat of Getzlaf, who they want to retire as a Duck, along with Zegras and Steel.
Also, Henrique is from Ontario. It may help, especially if the Ducks want to offload his contract, which I believe they do. - kingcong39
He's their leading scorer this year and by far the best EV goal scorer on the team (more than double Getz's goals).
I just don't see any reason why they would want to move him.
They bought out Corey Perry last summer after playing there for 13 seasons, so I don't know how much loyalty they have to their players. |

At the start alarmists were projecting 2 million deaths in the US alone.
You are probably the kind of person upset at the updated low death rate because you wanted more people dead just to win a political argument. You are sick. - Alex the Great

Does this happen with the flu? It's a serious question. Prior to Covid-19 if someone contracted the flu which then led to pneumonia and passed away what would be recorded as their cause of death? If "probable cause" was used for flu like Covid-19 how much larger would the 35k-75k annual ful deaths be? This is an extremely slippery slope that unfortunately has turned political full bore. |

The New York Times quickly ran the hot news about this new COVID-19 estimate:
The report, which warned that an uncontrolled spread of the disease could cause as many as 510,000 deaths in Britain, triggered a sudden shift in the government’s comparatively relaxed response to the virus. American officials said the report, which projected up to 2.2 million deaths in the United States from such a spread, also influenced the White House to strengthen its measures to isolate members of the public.

compared to the NYC and it's surroundings, the rest of the country is coming out ok
just ok
the rednecks down here will be sucking up the brews at the waterfront restaurants come monday - navinrjohnson
Also, the number of visitors to NYC from overseas. It's easy to bag on Cuomo and I'm not a fan, but he did what he needed to do. Ventilators is the rag d'jour on him but I don't blame him for a heightened sense of urgency |

The model was the one from the Imperial College in the UK. Interestingly, you can't even get the study itself on the first page in Google anymore.

This was the study that where the media figured out that public was addicted to Fear Porn.

Once the antibody test numbers came out you are already starting to see the fear mongers backtrack from their outlandish previous statements. Cuomo for example.
Then you have the Gerbes and Sbroads in the world hoping more people die just to make a President look bad in their eyes. |

I'm not a fan either. Was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He did fine explaining things and thought his pressers were fine.
But ultimately he tried to politicize an infectious disease. Not like he was alone, but I'll save my praise for those that don't put votes over country. |

It's definitely become much more of a political debate than it should be, but to say people are rooting for more people to die is more than just a little harsh. However, a better example is the way people look at Sweden's model. If you're on the left, it's "just you wait, there's going to be a catastrophe". It never came, and their curve appears to have flattened at a level with just about everyone else. If you're on the right, you fail to account for the amount of voluntary social distancing that is being done there. Schools were closed, but commerce was not. People who are considered most vulnerable have been voluntarily quarantining themselves, and those who are able to work from home have mostly done so. That's not something Americans, especially those of the boomer generation are willing to do. |

Had 4 tickets to see Adam Sandler, but it was cancelled. Tickets were $60 each so $240. With the fees it came to $315. They are only refunding the ticket cost and pocketing the other $75.
I wish we could go back to the days of sleeping out the night before tickets went on sale and all tickets were purchased in person. All the BS fees they charge nowadays is ridiculous. |

Well I'm not a fan so we are in agreement there but he has failed on many fronts, and it's not even hindsight. We all knew from the get go that this is a respiratory killer for the elderly based on the Kirkland, Washington nursing home deaths in February, he (along with other states as well) did nothing to enhance protection on nursing homes. We knew from the get go this was dangerously contagious, he did nothing to enhance cleanliness or safety among NYC public transportation or airports. Hell most of us on here a month ago were asking why NYC airports are still running as if nothing was happening, especially with people fleeing NYC anyway possible. Those are unacceptable failures. The combination of him and De Blasio is shameful and embarrassing. |
