He’s here
He’s not going anywhere
Do we really have to keep doing this??? - jdfitz77

Like I said numerous times, it all depends on the supposed injury he had. The stretch he was "injured" in he went 0-7-3 over 11 games in 3 months.
You may want to ignore the fact that he may have been injured, but it's wrong to just write him off if you don't know the full story. - adambuffalo
.906 isn’t good enough either
The win loss record u put up for Rittich doesn’t take into account that CGY scores more than us
Also... no one knows if he was actually injured
I’d think if that was the case then someone other than Beady’s hairdresser (i think it was?) would’ve heard about it & we’d know for sure |

I think you get hung up on the difference between correlation and causation. |

I’d certainly be open to it
Who’s in UFA & what do they cost?
What about Pilut?
Is McCabe really as bad as ppl here think?
Heard an interview where Ullmark said he was the best defenseman in our zone, & apparently Hutton said the same
Are u saying u wouldn’t trade one of our
RH defensemen for forward help?
If there’s another way, I’m all for it
Was just throwing the Montour for Duclair trade out there
If we can do better than Duclair, I’m all for it
Just thought he might be an interesting fit - jdfitz77
I'm looking for them to add talent not fill a hole by creating another one. Am also of the opinion that they don't have anyone in house to fill a second pairing role, including Pilut |

When’s the last time i brought that up?
Btw, how’d u feel about that trade?
I remember very few disliking it as much as i did |

on lines that couldn't score in the playoffs - navinrjohnson
You are wrong about his playoffs, he definitely did his part especially with Boston, and he played very well in the playoffs for Washington. He is not the problem on the Sabres, there are bigger problems and needs then Mojo to worry about. |

Are you good with paying Montour and Risto a combined $11m?
I'm not. They're essentially the same player. We dont need both of them. Unless one of them plays center next year |
|
|
|
I mean who was giving Skinner $11.37M per for 7 years ?
Jeff is only here cause his agent bent Botts over.
Sabres need to draft well, and make good hockey trades. Using free agency to address needs works 10% of the time to begin with. - Pegullaville

Well it was a 2014 trade and you went on until about 2017.
The Skinner Contract isn't yet a year old, but you've been telling Flacco to get over it for 6 months or so. |

I'd be surprised if he gets more than $4.5M |

The .906 was after barely playing for 3 months. He did have a .926 in Oct as well.
Calgary was averaging 3 goals per game this season compared to 2.82 for the Sabres. That equals about 1 extra goal every 6 games. Not a lot more.
You can believe the injury rumor or not, but playing a total of 3 games in a 60 day stretch tells me there was probably something wrong with him other than just not playing well. |

I would too, especially with the cap probably staying flat. I would still see if you could flip him for Georgiev. |

2 of 4 years in washington he did next to nothing
in jersey, he did nothing
the other 3 seasons about a .5 ppg player
41 points in 94 playoff games
13 goals in 94 playoff games
drew stafford like stuff |

How can I ?
I regret to inform you that I am not Jason Botterill, nor am I a player agent.
Skinner is only here because he got the 8th year and $10M more then he would have gotten anywhere else.
So I’m sure if Botts were to over pay and start handing term like that to everyone we could sign anybody.
Or, you can draft well and make smart hockey deals and sign guys that could fill a 3rd line role instead of overpaying for the likes of Okposo and Skinner. Really not hard to see why we are where we are today. |

That would be interesting, but I still go back to who's going to replace his minutes? |

I can't see te getting xtra assets for Montour, or even Risto. At. Least not an asset that would provide immediate help - Michael Pachla
depends where they look. Cost to acquire guys like miller and jokiharju wasn't as high as other d-men who were worse. If they're smart they can pull it off. It's also far less a concern than the mess up front |

A 30-goal scorer waived his NTC to come to Buffalo and he turns into a 40-goal scorer. a.) How can you not re-sign him if you're Buffalo and b How can you say no other team would offer him similar $$$ and max term? |

depends how you view the player, I guess...
joker cost a former first round pick and looks to be a solid top-four performer who's more defensive oriented
miller cost a 2nd and a 5th and looks like a solid third-pairing d-man with some PP acumen
Montour cost a 1st and a former 2nd-round pick and looks like an all-around, modern top-four d-man
moving Montour for a mid-six forward would fill a hole, but leave a hole |

So $9.9m combined. Idk, with an $80m cap? That's a pass for me |

He is not the problem, and Jersey was bad, I will give that but that was still only 3 games and he didn't finish 1 of them, why create another hole when the player sloted where he should be regularly puts up 45 to 50pts, we need more players like that. |

Borgen is 24 and a shutdown style RD. I'm pairing him with Dahlin. If he can't hack it, well now we'll know. I'll keep miller and Joker on the right as well. Left side the aforementioned Dahlin, McCabe and Pilut. Extra d can be whatever
I'm shedding $10m in salary for questionable defense and hopefully getting some pretty good forward assets in return.
Botterill would never trade Montour though so it's kind of irrelevant |

Buffalo was the only team who could offer 8 years.
So off the top he got $9M more then he would have gotten anywhere else.
Great teams make unpopular decisions all of the time. |
