How about if the Hawks have to downsize the front office, (due to no games to scout, significantly decreased revenues) who would be the first casualties? - LAHawk
Hopefully the pro scouting staff. They have not been too good. |

If it has a lot of pictures in it and all of the words are one syllable it will definitely have broad appeal to most loyal Hockeybuzz readers. |

The dirty word to you my friend!
I have the scouting profiles up for the top 110 players on my mock draft and each has a three syllable word, stickhandle, in them.
Besides the top 110, I am past half done on throwing the later selected guys evaluations up too.
https://www.draftsite.com/nhl/mock-draft/2020/
Wis proof read it would have be more apropos....
since as reread these i find one typo and run on sentence in each.... |

My only memory of Millen on the Hawks was that he almost never played. I believe he was a throw-in to the Goulet trade from Quebec. - Rota's Rooter
off topic but...at the time I always thought that was a historic trade because in my opinion, it was the first time an NHL team had two player could be considered black in that McKegney joined Dirk Graham on the hawks.
Things like this seemed to be unmentionable at the time...
I always wondered...was I correct?... had another NHL team added a second hockey brother before this?
please excuse that politically incorrect word usage but I felt I hadn't explained the idea well earlier, (gulp) |

Wow, I knew OTT had two early draft picks, but I had not realized that they had seven of the top 53 picks!
2 / 3 / 21 / 33 / 46 / 52 / 53
Add 64/74/95 and they are well situated for a deep class. |

The Habs have 14 picks total:
1 in the 1st
3 in the 2nd
2 in the 3rd
3 in the 4th
2 in the 5th
1 in the 6th
2 in the 7th
The Senators have 13 with the 7 you mentioned in the first two rounds.
The Jackets have 4 this year and only 3 last year with their first pick not until the 4th round (two that round and one more in the 7th). |

McD - vabeachbear
It's interesting that Jay Blunk is still in place. It's been commented on before that being close to McD, you'd figure he'd be gone, but maybe Danny Wirtz has no issue with him.
Wonder if he ends up staying on as President of Biz (non hockey) Ops. |

I'm thinking, once McD finds employment, Blunk will be "Plunked" from the blackhawks organization to join him in his new place. |

I don't know, at this point, you think he'd feel he had been on McD's coat tails long enough.

But that is usually what happens when executives move into positions, they bring their own people in (for better or worse). |

Nothing compares with Esposito and Hodge for Pit Martin and Giles Marrotte. There were two others involved. I lost faith when William Wirtz let Bobby Hull go because he wouldn't pay him $250k a year. Hull always has said they had a handshake deal. - rpeters01
You are correct on the Hawks/Bruins trade, however the Hawks went to the finals in 71 and 73. After the Chelios and Roenick’s trades, the Hawks went into a black hole. |

Yeah Marc Bergevins plan was to get him some decent pro player help with some them, because you simply cannot draft and start signing that many prospects (if as they are supposed to, start progressing).
If I was the Blackhawks, I would see if their old associate has any passing interest in any Rockford guys who need more time and any interest in any of the affordable rostered players, and try and get another second.
BUT IF...as has been suggested TRADES of current players for picks is going to be "forbidden" this shoots Marc's plan to shreds.
We are sure of anything about the trading part...but honestly the rarity of trades that are simply draft pick for draft (which, I am sure, will still be allowed, right?) puts Bergevin in tougher position because I just dont know how many teams in the first round are going to jump at giving it away for quantity later in the day, despite my talk of the draft's depth...the stats are there that say the chances of getting along term pro player are better drafting in higher tiers.
The rumor mill is trying to suggest they ask Edmonton to hand over Jesse Puljujarvi’
for second or more, but I am not so sure Bergevin wants to over pay for a player who wants more than a change of scenery, his people want a roster slot, and a more $$ than a RFA w/o arbitration rights normally gets.
(This is more the player type the rebuilding hawks can look at since that was their MO with Brother Nylander...)
The has want to try and add more scoring that has size, and eventually fill their long term slotting on defense besides the already soon tone added Russian dean they drafted.
I guess I am posting because I think that this no trade for established players part that looks to be attached to the draft proceeding puts Bergevin in a corner from where he expected to be.
YOU cannot trade a rostered guy like Toews and call him player to be named later and adda second round pick
I dont think if you can say Tampa Bay trades "a player to be named player" (JP Miller or in reality this go around,Alex Killorn) in exchange for Marek Mazanec, a third-round pick in the 2019 Draft and a conditional first-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft....but the most curious part is how teams will agree on the conditional picks if they differ on whether they the conditions were met...Now StanBo and Bergie might be interest din hammering g the unresolved conditions, but not so sure if that trade between Oilers and F where Calgary will conditionally receive a third-round pick in 2020 if Neal scores at least 21 goals during the 2019–20 NHL season and Lucic has at least ten fewer goals than Neal is one where either team easily just agrees...and if they don't you thin k they want to trust a King Solomon arbitrator or Uncle Gary to say what the pick is gonna be? |

Imagine how many cups they would have won with Hodge playing with Mikita and Esposito 2C for Bobby Hull's line! Or Just Keep Espo and Hodge together and move Hull with Mikita. Dennis Hull and Cliff Koroll would have been on the 3rd line.
