So, another game 7 loss in the Stanley Cup final? - Marwood
All you can ask is a team good enough to contend from a GM. Winning is on the coaches/players. Burke/Gillis (mostly Burke) built a team good enough to win. |

I’d rather they were building a Gretzky, Messier, Kurri type core personally |

Burke - 6 seasons as GM - 4 playoff appearances.
Nonis - 4 seasons as GM - 1 playoff appearance.
Gillis - 6 seasons as GM - 5 playoff appearances.
Mostly Burke? Wouldn’t Nonis have been the beneficiary of Burke’s work? But yet only one playoff appearance in four seasons after Burke.
Your narrative game is strong. |

Because he drafted the core lineup that was a winning team. If anything, they were so good they underperformed by not winning a cup. |

He did? Burke drafted the twins, Bieksa, and Kesler. Those guys were difference makers but four guys don’t make a team. I think you give Burke more credit than he deserves. |

Always thought Burke was a touch over-rated. He also inherited an almost fully built ANA team that won that cup. Gillis deserves credit for the additions in 2011 as without Hamhuis, Ehrhoff, Malholtra, Lappy, Torres, Samuelson, and a few others there would have been no run to the final. |

As much as I dislike Nonis as GM, his 2004 draft of Schneider, Edler, and Hansen also played a part in creating a solid cup contending team.
To give the credit to Burke for a team that competed for a cup seven seasons after he was fired is a bit misguided IMO. |

Despite recently reopening businesses amid an impressive decline in new coronavirus case, the South Korean government has issued a nationwide health advisory for bars and nightclubs to close down for 30 more days after health officials tracked 13 new cases to a single person who attended five nightclubs and bars in the country's capital city of Seoul.

These stories will be interesting and that is why I am glad others can be the Guinea Pigs
NY state was suppose to start reopening next Friday but now are delaying it to mid June. |

Good morning - we made it through another week!
Today's blog dives deeper into the scheduling of the NHL Draft and how that's intertwined with the Judd Brackett sage, and also spotlights some hockey that you can watch this weekend:
