He did? Burke drafted the twins, Bieksa, and Kesler. Those guys were difference makers but four guys don’t make a team. I think you give Burke more credit than he deserves.

Always thought Burke was a touch over-rated. He also inherited an almost fully built ANA team that won that cup. Gillis deserves credit for the additions in 2011 as without Hamhuis, Ehrhoff, Malholtra, Lappy, Torres, Samuelson, and a few others there would have been no run to the final.

As much as I dislike Nonis as GM, his 2004 draft of Schneider, Edler, and Hansen also played a part in creating a solid cup contending team.

To give the credit to Burke for a team that competed for a cup seven seasons after he was fired is a bit misguided IMO.
