This article also tells me the value of Tanev is still very important for a few more years at least. Resigning him to a reasonable contract allows the D corp to continue to improve on depth. It comes down to D pairing dynamics. A Hughes/Tanev combo ticks off all the boxes. Myers needs a different complimentary partner once Edler hangs them up or moves on. They are ok as of now but definitely need to improve. Top 4 is solid but not quite good enough yet. The 3rd pairing needs to be where more attention is given. I like Stetcher somewhat but he’ll expect too much next contract & we all know the cap is tight. Time for new blood to be promoted. OJ & Rafferty are in line to be just that while the top 4 hold down the fort in the very short term.RHD Woo is a few years away. LHD Rathbone when or if signed looks to be a very interesting prospect that brings the needed new wave mobile offensive threat of these times.LHD Utunen can be the defensive D on a 3rd pairing or the 7th D man. Tryamkin more of the Swiss army knife role that Stetcher has been.
Still there is need to keep drafting/developing D. The F prospect pool looks to be very good & very competitive in the near future. Some C’s look promising although still a little weak for depth. Sutter & Beagle are weighing down the cap & should be moved or at least 1 of them. Idc about the return as much as the cap space is obviously the priority.
The 2021-22 season is my projected year to be very competitive & a force with this new core. How to get there is about jettisoning contracts. 2020-21 should be the year to do as much as possible even at the risk of a step back & less depth.
If it costs picks or prospects it will undoubtedly cause a shltstorm here but heh we like that do we not? Lol |

What would you like to see for the D pairings next season & beyond?
Consider who is in the system firstly.
Second the UFA market if you believe so.
Trades & let D walk is a given option. |

The article is written by David Quadrelli or what ever his name is. He has just been promoted to chief editor. I believe he is one of the main founders of CanuckWay. You may as well be reading articles from NFU

I read articles then apply my thoughts to it to plan my ideas I’d like to see. Still say making a big play for Pietrangelo would be a huge coup. Yes it’s questionable on where he would sign if not StL. I’m not sold that the Canucks would be out of the question for him. Guess it comes down to how close he feels we are to contending. Adding him alone would have him believe he’s a difference maker given the F’s we have & the D parts already here. If we don’t manage to get him then back to my earlier post it is. |

He wasn't a founder at Canuck Way but he was a blogger there for a little while. Not a huge fan of his, but, at least his blogs are readable, unlike anything written by NFU. - Reubenkincade
Seriously CanucksWay is a bunch of amateur wannabes. Some of their articles . I have seen them since the beginning and it is bush league. If you want to get your info from guys that know SFA then power to you.
I think one of his first articles was three Canucks that need to have a bounce back year. Schaller Jake and Rookie of the year Petey.
I read about two or three of their first few articles and stopped reading when I seen how bush league it was. |

Read what ever you want . As I have said there are a few start ups on Twitter that are nothing more than a few fans trying to sell them selves. If you want to think they are authorities then |

Not disagreeing with you just saying at least you could understand his articles.
I occasionally pop in there just for the entertainment in the comments section.😁 |

Nothing against anyone who wants to follow them or anyone. I seen all these Twitter guys from the on start using Twitter as a platform . I chose not to read their articles seeing they have no inside news and offer only opinions. It really is no different than reading anyone on here including NFU.
If you read it as entertainment fine but Nightie was posting their article as if it was some insight.
(my pet peeve and rant against pop up experts.) |

I rely on Carol for most things Canucks, along with a bit of info from the usual reputable insiders, sites like CA and Canuck Way are topic of discussion articles only, and are usually poorly written. |

Carol has the education , the inside interviews, is a credited member of the press. She travels the world attending events and gives an unbiased report. That's a huge difference.
These guys a year ago were in school or unrelated job sitting on the couch or in their paid seat telling you what they thought of the game. |
