Carol has the education , the inside interviews, is a credited member of the press. She travels the world attending events and gives an unbiased report. That's a huge difference.

Carol is easily the best blogger on this site and it's not even close really. We should be very thankful we have her here. |

This article also tells me the value of Tanev is still very important for a few more years at least. Resigning him to a reasonable contract allows the D corp to continue to improve on depth. It comes down to D pairing dynamics. A Hughes/Tanev combo ticks off all the boxes. Myers needs a different complimentary partner once Edler hangs them up or moves on. They are ok as of now but definitely need to improve. Top 4 is solid but not quite good enough yet. The 3rd pairing needs to be where more attention is given. I like Stetcher somewhat but he’ll expect too much next contract & we all know the cap is tight. Time for new blood to be promoted. OJ & Rafferty are in line to be just that while the top 4 hold down the fort in the very short term.RHD Woo is a few years away. LHD Rathbone when or if signed looks to be a very interesting prospect that brings the needed new wave mobile offensive threat of these times.LHD Utunen can be the defensive D on a 3rd pairing or the 7th D man. Tryamkin more of the Swiss army knife role that Stetcher has been.
Still there is need to keep drafting/developing D. The F prospect pool looks to be very good & very competitive in the near future. Some C’s look promising although still a little weak for depth. Sutter & Beagle are weighing down the cap & should be moved or at least 1 of them. Idc about the return as much as the cap space is obviously the priority.
The 2021-22 season is my projected year to be very competitive & a force with this new core. How to get there is about jettisoning contracts. 2020-21 should be the year to do as much as possible even at the risk of a step back & less depth.
If it costs picks or prospects it will undoubtedly cause a shltstorm here but heh we like that do we not? Lol - Nighthawk r

I seen his post and I seen the article was written by CanucksArmy ( Twitter bloggers in other words) and then read Nighties first sentence that said " This article tells me that Tanev still has value" I stopped reading right there.
So many things wrong with the first sentence starting with this article tells me
Tanev has value of course but it does not mean it has to be with Canucks was my number two issue so I stopped reading. |

I think all Canuck fans, even you, would be ok with signing Tanev to a 2 year, $3m per year contract. That would be very reasonable for the Canucks, and allow them to allocate that money elsewhere. But is that a reasonable thing to expect? Tanev, Markstrom, Tofolli, Virtanen are all going to want to do what is best for them and their family. That might mean a "reasonable" contract with the Canucks, but who knows.
As far as Canucks Army or Way or whoever, I stopped reading there on the regular. I get most of my news from the comment section here. I don't think people are stupid for reading those articles, anymore than they are for reading the Washington Post. Read it all... |

I'm a Libra, it's all about balance for me. So when I see someone complaining that a certain group is "rinse and repeat" and that person is doing the exact same thing, I say something. Now, if he had said "previously, I thought Tanev was expendable, and after reading this I believe he is vital to the continued growth of the developing D core and should be resigned at any cost" there would be a conversation in there. |

I have no problem with Tanev 2 years at 3 mil . I don't think he will accept a haircut that deep but sure.
I have nothing against him but I have a price range . I think this is a good year to sign a few bargains or make a substantial trade. You don't have to fall back into old comfort zones and you don't need to overpay. |

Word sensitive : the developing D core
4 of the top 6 have played 10 years or close. The best Dman has played 1 year and always makes his partner look world class.

You and I have/had very different opinions about the twins, but we both laughed at the "who will replace the 100 points" crowd. The same thing is true of Edler, Tanev, Sutter etc. No one person will replace any other one person, and yet they are replaced easily... |

Canucks need to figure out a roster that plays more in the other end of the rink instead of playing in their own end. Plenty of players can make that happen yet the last 7- 8 years they keep going back to the same thing that doesn't work.
I am okay with change. I like the direction they are going. |

It's too exhausting arguing with the flat earthers. They just make poop up, easy peasy, but arguing with them means actually having to think, read, research. It takes time and energy, and you will never win, because no amount of fact will change their mind. |

Well if the same is true foe the players you listed, the same is for everyone on the team..jkuzzi has been touting trading Brock, and he certainly heard back about the bath salts crowd.
No one can not be replaced, but there was uncertainty with who would replace the Sedins, it was a discussion point that turned into a bit of bickering because of differences of opinion.
And when someone disagrees with a post, it's not very often they are constructive with their reply.
Sorry Marwood, people have feelings... |

My issue is with the people who choose to follow them Social media is a soapbox for big mouths.
Most of these podcasters have no formal training and no special insight.
What they are doing is no different than if I started a website and tried to get people to pay to hear my opinions.
I would be happy to see the money but seriously question how smart you are to pay for my opinion. I have no inside info, I don't talk to the team .
Like I said choose who you want but buyer beware. |

I agree, it's what we do here. I understand the Kuze, Brock could actually net you a decent D if that's the route you wanted to go. Personally, I think it's a lateral move, as it creates a hole that you don't have anyone to fill. Unless they manage to sign Toffy...
