Ok so it’s still remaking the D waiting on prospects. That is 1 option but means 2-3yrs of patience at minimum.

You can think what you want . I think bringing back the same six Dmen doesn't fix the D . Just a hunch.

I hate when a player in his contract year has a season that is the exception rather than similar to the rest of the seasons in his contract. This year it's Tanev and his games played and him returning and finishing games after getting hurt, something he didnt do previous. Last year it was Edler and his 2 way play improving and looking 5 years younger.

Are people really convinced that Tanev wont slip back into his injury problems as he gets older?

I'm not saying to bring back the same D. I am saying your suggestion of replacing Tanev with Risto will turn us from a 50 shot against team to a 60 shot against team. If we could trade Myers and get Risto I would be for it. Our top 4 is better this season than it was in years past. Forward groups and defensive coaching needs to be better just as much as D. Also our bottom pairing was horrendous an a larger part of our issue than our top 4 was. According to the stats, Edler and Myers did what you wanted, so did Hughes and Tanev. Stetcher, Benn, and Fatburger did not.

Tanev and Dillon. If we get Risto we need to find a way to trade Myers. Having a top 6 that is 90% offense and 10% defense, you will lose...a lot.

First time in years he plays a full schedule and first time since being in the NHL has a fight. Contract year

I’m good with resign or move on from him. Problem is who plays RHD?
I don’t see Myers as top 2.
I don’t want Stetcher top 4 & really want him traded instead of a raise.
Again it Leaves it to Hughes to switch over & call up Rafferty for RHD.
Tryamkin I prefer in the bottom pair.

Without a huge UFA signed for top 2 D I don’t see much choice. Waiting for Woo is an option but I project him as top 4 D unless he surprises & becomes top 2.

I realize you send up a balloon with Risto but the cost to acquire him is the big Q.

For me it’s how the pairings shape up if that happened & the other moving parts involved.
