I played D growing up & it’s not difficult for some players to play their offside. Problem is where your stick is when Op’s on the rush & when he has to turn. His skating mobility & escapability doesn’t change when with the puck. Keeping a F to the outside is the general way to play but once he turns can he adjust when the F cuts east west?

I have some serious issues paying Stetcher instead of getting something in a trade. Sure he can move up when injuries but we suffer. Lacking good RHD is a league wide thing for ever. Letting Tanev walks exacerbates that even more forcing Myers into the top 2 D. Not liking that but who knows if that’ll work out. Not holding my breath.

There is nothing to suggest JB is not going to keep pushing to make the PO’s. That means the D will be debated for a long time yet. Will he let prospects earn a spot or 2? If yes then Tanev is gone & leaves Stetcher ouch. If both gone then it’s promotion from within if no top 4 RHD is found. I could live with that choice & bite the bullet & let them evolve their NHL game.

That’s a ton of work for JB & company to pull off. That alone gives ppl reason to be pessimistic. Next season needs to be very productive cleaning out contracts with still more to do the next year. It will be painful if that happens. Expect picks/prospects to be the currency to clean up the cap or expect some players to play it out here.

The price for Toffoli was another indicator of where JB is going & it’s obvious it’s pushing faster than some liked. If not resigned it will be a shltstorm here no doubt.
