He's not projected as a Center in the NHL.
He's projected as a 4th line winger.
He was also having a miserable season production wise until they put him on the same line with Byfield. Coincidence? I think not. - kingcong39
he's been producing the same ppg amount dating back to the ushl...pekar is the type of player that does all the dirty work for his linemates with much of it not showing up on the statsheet, yet he's universally loved by his coaches and team mates because of it...which can be found here in part I of my piece on him done almost two years ago:

last 3 seasons
henrique 121 points
soderberg 121 points - navinrjohnson
point taken...
however, can soderberg produce those numbers as a No. 2 center on the Sabres? |

if played center, like any qb, or cleanup hitter, or nba power forward
his numbers would really be based on what they put around him
if your playing between skinner and reinhart, numbers would go way up, for him or henrique or cozens, or casey
if your playing him between an okposo and scott wilson, or griffith and pouliot they would be bad |

"While Matej Pekar’s World Junior experience was not a bright one, he has been on fire since he came back to Ontario. He played in one last game with the Barrie Colts before being dealt to the Sudbury Wolves at the OHL Trade Deadline. With Pekar joining Sudbury, the Wolves have the Czech winger playing alongside Quinton Byfield and David Levin. The trio is one of the most powerful forward lines across the OHL"

one thing that hindered the bad sabres teams over the last few years, was being handcuffed with bad contracts unable to move over the past few years with term left
Bogo
Okposo
Scandella
Sobotka
Berglund, for a minute

some of the names Henrique, who was their leading scorer (while placing third in p/gm at 0.61) played with other than rakell (0.65 ppg) and silfverberg (0.59,) wingers he seemed to produce well with:
Troy Terry (0.32 ppg)
Max Jones (0.20)
Ondrej Kase (0.47)
Nick Ritchie (0.46) |

Soderberg did play on the wing on occasions, but still played center around 50% of the time. When on the wing his most common linemates were Schmaltz and Keller, so he was able to keep up with the kids. If he would be available for 2 years $5m I would say it would be better than giving up assets for Henrique. Being 35 at the start of the season and a likely flat cap I don't see him getting a big raise. He could take a discount though and go to a contender like back to the Avs or Bruins. |

Well The Cap Guru has a chance this offseason to either set up the team for success or handcuff them further. He has to plan for the following season with new contracts for Dahlin, Joker while replacing Hutton and Mojo.
Should be interesting. |

if he got bought out by the ducks, I would be all for giving him a 2 year deal above market value
if our gm knows what he is doing long term, casey, cozens, davidsson, ruotsalainen, and whoever they pick with the first pick
2 of those guys should be able to fill the middle 6 centers 2 years from now

Texas's "record number" of positive cases is a result of a record number of tests. The % positive is trending downwards. They're doing things right. - buffalofan19

two years might be a tad early to do so in an efficaciously, sustainable manner...the depths from which this team has had to climb out of is mind-boggling...those tank years and the subsequent screw ups put them way, way, way behind the eight-ball |

you think casey sucks and you want botts to still be our gm and trade for another okposo contract
you think a player with selke votes and faster then henrique is a bad sign but are having a wet dream over henrique
you think having an aging center on a bad contract for 4 years is a good thing, when we have young prospects and current sabres to sign and get meaningful minutes up front to
I think a 1 year stop gap is a better option, and he is faster and a better 2 way player
time to move on to another topic - navinrjohnson
I like a move for Henrique but not the deal that was presented. His contract blows goats too. He was on pace for 30 goals and 50 points while only getting a shade under 17 mins a night.
If and it’s a big IF you amnesty Okposo, I don’t hate the contract as much.
That said, what’s the cost to get him?

henrique is a buy out candidate for the ducks
easy pass - navinrjohnson
That's cool, I think it's not a bad deal, you are getting a better Dman that you can pair with Dahlin and a C that can work with Skinner. And with the Salaries going both ways it basically costing 4 mill. Hate losing the young guys especially Pekar cause I like him, but I am not sold on Casey and the deal makes us better now. |

yeah, but fatalities are rising to a record 116 deaths over a three-day span...that is the result of what happened 10-14 days prior as deaths are always a lagging indicator |

seems a certain nhl owner is pissed that the playoffs may be expanded by 50% this season and he still would not get in
I was told it was an eye opening experience
