Mittelstadt in all likelihood will never play 2nd line center for the Sabres. It'll be Cozens or this year's pick. He'll be a 3rd line center or a Mojo-type winger

No big loss imo.

Pekar will top out as a slightly tougher Latvian locomotive or bottom out at nothing

- jcragcrumple

I want Pekar to succeed here as I like what he brings in the pest department, compared to Marchand in that regard. I liked that in his 1st camp he went right after Dahlin, gives us a glimpse at how he can get guys off their game.

Sorry, it was longer than ten days ago, as my advice clearly came out before their 12/1 reverse split on the 5th. But. hey, haters gotta hate.
- lacaprup

I’m surprised you hung on to that. I could of sworn it was down nearly 30% before the reverse split.

Way to remain patient though, can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a stock go up 70% in one day.

Credit where credit is due 👍🏻

Like when Girgensons lit up Reinhart in training camp in '14

Both USHL grinder types. I get the desire for grit in the forward ranks, and our forward prospect pool sucks, but it's really not a big loss. You can find guys like him for free (Lazar)

kings would get a big cap hit if he retired

If only he also had even close to the actual talent Marchand also has, they'd really have something.

Pretty much what you wrote above.

I'd rather have tough players with actual top end talent as well.

What does a split have to do with the price as laid out?

Nothing.

Man that was a weak and thin-skinned response to facts.

Probably better I am not ever a GM, but don't really think it's a horrible trade, yes Henrique contract will hurt in 2 or 3 years, but hopefully some of the younger guys are taking spots by then on cheaper contracts to offset it, and Okopso will be gone to hopefully, can't see him lasting that long with his head history.

And how do I disregard the cap. How much do you think a 45 to 50 pt C in FA is gonna cost. Yes in 2 or 3 years Henrique contract could hurt, but by that time some of the younger players should be hitting the ice and that should offset that. With the money going back and forth in the trade the Sabres are adding about 3.5 to 4 mill in cap.
A little change, my numbers were off
The Sabres would be adding about 2 8 mill in salary actually.

Well of course, who wouldn't.
For 4th line winger on ELC...I'd be ok.
Top 6, nope.

Dylan Strome would be my 1st choice, but might cost more then people think.

Seems like strome has that late bloomer kinda feel.

Not in today's NHL and the way salaries have escalated.

When the SJW start parading on hockey buzz and Facebook about white privilege and “modern day lynching” in the streets of Georgia yet ignore facts and statistics that you are far more likely to get killed by a black man being white then the opposite and ignore their President candidate after sexually assaulting a staffer they are kind of hypocrites

If he's 35, it's much more likely, especially when he's much closer to a 40 point player.

That I will agree on, and to me Henrique point totals could go up with Skinner on his wing. Might not have been the best trade thought but getting Manson to play with Dahlin would be a bonus to me.

Don't know if it's enough, but think that is pretty close. Manson is really there only RHD, so Risto takes his place and Mitts and Pekar give them a couple more young controllable player's for taking Henrique contract, but gives us a bridge to Cozens, that could also help Skinner.
- Buff36

I’d take out Mitts & add in Asplund or Tage
Manson is solid, not great
Same with Henrique
And it’s over 10mil in Cap, right?
And they get 3 years younger on defense with Risto

If Mitts value is that low, u just keep him

No its 9.925 with Manson at 4.1 and Henrique at 5.825, we are really only adding about 3 mill in cap.

Manson is the best kept secret in the NHL.

If you don’t judge based exclusively on offensive numbers there aren’t many RHD that have a bigger impact then him.

Exact opposite of Risto analytically

- Pegullaville

Been talking about him as the perfect partner for Dahlin ever since we drafted him

Manson would be a great get
Just don’t wanna overpay for him
If taking Henrique as part of the deal matters to the Ducks, that’ll take teams like the Leafs out of the running & hopefully allow us to make a good deal

Also...
If they do the draft in June, that could also give us a leg up on most teams
We could trade with the Ducks still bc both teams would be out of the 24 team playoffs & not have to worry about players finishing their seasons
