Most people are television fans, I’m a voracious reader, usually a book a week.

Jack Reacher is a 6’6” behemoth, tough as nails and steps in when the little guy is being harassed, to put things in simple terms.

If you sailed a lot, reading probably was the only option. It was just an uncomfortable situation, people are stressed and nearing breaking point for a few.

It's a modern day one man A-Team. The major difference between you and Reacher is that he doesn't own a truck

Just finished reading Blue Moon, he took out the Albanians and Ukrainian gangs, helped the old couple, got laid by the young hot woman and left town on a Greyhound all in 4 days.

I actually watched that movie and was so pissed off because he ruined the entire series for me.

Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, WTF was Lee Childs thinking...probably the royalties.

- Makita

Isn’t Tom Cruise about the size of Vantel? 5’7” or something like that?

I doubt the author had a say in it. I read maybe four novels in the series before the movie was set to come out. When I heard Cruise was playing Reacher I barfed in my mouth.

not if...I did.

I went to work in Eastern Germany in the early 90’s, reading was a staple to staying away from the bars and the trouble that my work mates always seem to get into.

I good book at sea is a valuable asset to have, almost everyone read or did needle point.

2011 Vino Nobile de Montepulciano Riserva tonight to celebrate the end of a tough week. Like Chianti, but from a different part of Tuscany.

I hated the movie, notwithstanding Cruise as Reacher, the movie barely followed the plot of the book. I would have casted either Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck as Reacher

Germany in summer is beautiful, Switzerland is my favourite though, something about those mountains and the villages, it’s like visiting a poster or painting on a daily basis.

My first wine made from start to finish for us tonight. A Pinot Gris cold soaked for 6 hours, pressed in a basket press and then fermented and aged in single use French oak puncheons with battonage 3x per week. It is killer.

Nice! Color? 6 hours probably not enough to turn it pink huh? Do you use puncheons for much in the winery? I really like some BC Pinot Noir that’s aged in slightly larger barrels.

There’s going to be some heated arguments with so many people coming together. I was at the bank last week to get a bank draft for my new truck, while standing in line this guy comes in an goes straight to the business area for a coin drop and some lady in line freaked out that he got serviced without having to wait like everyone else.

The manager, a lady, was upset because she knew she (frank)ed up and should have made him wait in line, anyway, the guy starts getting loud and telling the lady who’s upset off....I thought to myself, don’t let this escalate, I stepped towards him (I’m 6’4” 240 lbs and in pretty good shape) and told him to take it down a notch. He stopped and things de-escalated from there, but it was uncomfortable for everyone.

I’m 6’0” and 175 (180 at Christmas). Always wanted to do that but the frame just doesn't intimidate. Most guys don’t back down from 175. That’s why Ive had to get teeth replaced.

F*ck it, just cast Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Reacher and step back and let him do his thing.

Gris picks up colour pretty quick, but most of the colour came from the basket press. It generates about four times the pressure a regular bladder press does. It was this crazy pink colour during ferment, but it turned orange during barrel ageing.

We use puncheons primarily for whites, but if we made a Pinot we’d probably use them for that as well. You get all of the oxidation that you would from a normal barrel, but way less wood contact. A good portion of our Chardonnay spends most of its life in puncheons.

Would love to sit and have a glass and discuss. For meow we’ll just drink our own wines and remember the days when we had actual in person friends

Let me know the next time you’re in the area. I’ll take you through production and pop open a couple of barrels.

We’re always looking for people to help bottle...

People are more chill out here. Everybody knows everybody. If there's going to be conflict, it will be with outsiders and tourists forgetting to respect the locals and local guidelines. It's a little different in cities....which is why I've always avoided them when I can.

I think you did the right thing stepping in to de-escalate. I would have done the same thing and have done so in the past....have all of my teeth too. (6'1" 220...goalie reflexes)

For those of you on the island, first four sailings from Vancouver this morning are sold out.

Good luck.
