It was pretty slim pickings when the ABC line was the best the Hawks could throw together. Like many have said, I remember Calder being a hard working guy who just wasn't superstar level skill.

I hope some of the young Hawks are using this break time well to get ready for "if" the season resumes or next season. I'm just the older players are glad to get a bit of a rest.

What's happening: Wisconsin is in their phase of re-opening and tons of people will flock to their casinos and bars. No way is enforcement of social distancing going to occur.

Could use Ogi flowchart now if it was handy

Some people going to Wisc bars and casinos have the Corona virus or are carriers. They will pass it on;.people who went to Wisconsin for frolicking good times actually will next become suck and die. The Corona numbers will spike after.their careless behavior resulted in more heartache

The impact upon society.will be felt in the sporting world, when mayor's and governor's proclaim there may be no attendance - sparce, anyway.

A few months later each of the major sports will have suffered perhaps a significant economic blow. The fans stayed home. How minor league teams get by......I don't know how they can..

There is going to be great pressure when the mass of people rise up. I took an European Economic History collegiate course and learned changes occur within society when the mass of people rise up. The mighty powerful influential wealthy do not hold all the chips when our way of life is greatly altered.

Kenny Rogers had a song "The Gambler" (circa 1980's) in which he croaked or seemed to suggest he would, if he didn't play his cards right.

"You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to walk away; And know when to run

You never count your money when you're sitting at the table
There will be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done"

Well Trump has not handled the game of Life well, not since the onset of Coronavirus. Neither he or Biden give me much hope. But we will get through this with a lot of pain. The sportsworld will be forever changed. Exactly how is an ominous, arduous task I will not tackle right now.

But without fans shelling out dollars to attend games, it is like a vampire sucking blood out of a victim. Never be the same again. An innoculation you pray. Fine. Until the next Corona comes around. And people cannot stand to be bound up. Stir crazy people.

Hopefully better leaders in our government can steer the American Ship through treacherous times. We might find most of us paying more to watch televised games where mostly empty stadiums contain a much different paid group of athletes to rumble.. They may not be wearing facemasks.

In reality though we all should wear facemasks as we attempt to protect ourselves, our identity and our way of life changes. Which includes the way sports is played and viewed.

People can still be smart when states reopen. What's happening in Wisconsin is ridiculous. I can't wait to go to a restaurant with my wife, but if I walk in, and see people everywhere, I'm turning around immediately.
Businesses can also be smart, and limit how many people are allowed in at any given time. They can also mandate that masks be worn, put hand sanitizer next to the ketchup on the table, etc. It's funny how people fight back against the shutdown by doing exactly what caused the shutdown.
I'm all for reopening, as I think the shutdown will end up being almost as deadly as the virus, but we need to be smart about it!

yeah, dont know if the Athletic wants the Chicago regulars at Pony to start posting...I have known the owner Mark for years and he and the staff could probably could write the "Untold Tales of the a Pony" book and sell a lot of them, but he isn't that kinda guy.
If safe to say, it was like a clubhouse.

Many guys lived close and 4 lived walking distance, so they had easy exits to get home, and the place the patrons were so happy with being in the in with the players being there, when they were downstairs, they felt willing to turn an eye to "things."

Yeah, the rumors about "upstairs at The Pony" were well told in Chicago

Did anyone see nbc Chicago ranking the hawks top enforcers?
There list isnt horrible but not great.
Theirs
1. Bob Probert [better during his wings years. But still good as a hawk and knew his role.]
2. Al Secord ( Not much of a enforcer but a power forward who could hold his own)
3 Keith Magnuson (punching bag but he would stand up for teammates)
4. Behn Wilson (tough guy but not elite)
5 Stu Grimson (young with the hawks but a beast)
6. Dave Manson (animal who could hold his own)
7. Mike Peluso (not a great fighter some big losses. Not with the hawks long but high volume)
8 Phil Russell (wrong Russell not a fighter like cam)
9. John Scott (didnt fight enough to be ranked at the top.)
10. Chris Chelios (shouldn't be on the list)
11 Ryan Vandenbussche (criminally underrated. Best no 2 in the league for a time)
12. Jim Cummins (exciting decent no. 2)
13. Wayne Van Dorp (lasted one year average during a really tough time)
14. Reid Simpson (journeyman shouldn't be on the list.)
15. Jamal Mayers (a grinder who was past his prime with the hawks shouldn't be on the list.)

Speaking of Cam Russell...I sat next to him and his girlfriend at a Hawks game at the Stadium when I was about 12 years old. About row 14, center ice section. My uncle noticed him. The empty seat next to the gorgeous girl that was sitting to my right became occupied midway through the 1st period by a guy with long hair looking like he was fresh out the shower. I was so into the game and probably shy at that age, that I never talked to him. Still a fun memory

I bet wiz doesn't have a ranking for the fighters in the game! Personal opinion.sure he could make a list.

What makes a successful good figjter? Balance on skates. Could be a better leverage puncher on skates than off ice in shoes. Just my guess. If anyone knows then chirp up. I never could quite figure out how K Beech could score much in juniors (didn't he have a good slapshot?). Yet as a pro his.poor balance on skates cost him. He lost board battles routinely in the AHL

Yet he was very smart and defensively was capable (I think this part of game was just only when he felt compelled to be responsible).

I was floored on a couple of ocassions when I was in attendance.....Beech gained control of puck past his own blueline then proceeded to skate backwards, circling ever so gracefully and stopping behind his net...ready for the break out play . From a player with obvious balance issues along boards.

Now he did fight often and won usually. Though often he picked on smaller size players than himself. Poor M Olimb.

In light of the balance issues I now segue to present Brent Seabrook....he whom never had a sound skating stride.. Hey 6628 I know that u have commented upon this when I initialy brought up Seabrook stride.

I think your response, your analysis has been correct. I know you have coached - has it always been the ladies? And for whatever reason Wiz I recall had some point of contention with you about Seabrook being a competent enough skater

Should be really interesting if he skates better than he has in years but retains same skating technique. He had been hampered with injuries yet Seabrook has been a warrior playing through injuries which handicapped his effectiveness/capability

I do not take lightly the many folks whom went up to Wisconsin to frequent bars, casinos, restaurants.

I am sure many of them did not practice social distancing. I am sure governess of social distancing and wearing facemasks was not enforced too well. In part due to the difficulty to do so

Normally I do not like to listen to radio diisc jockey banter. And I am not particularly amused by radio sports hosts whom make parodies of songs about sports figures or sports topics

But I have a suggestion for them. Come up with a parody to "My Sharona" by The Knack (1979). For the bright beavers treked to Wisconsin and practiced unsafe health proceduree.....My Sharona is changed to My Corona[url]

If you want to pass blame then start with Fauci and Co. Go look at what he was saying in February about COVID. Talking about how we would never have lockdowns like China, etc. This virus has been spreading since December or January in our population. Maybe earlier than that....

China hid this from the world. Could we have been better prepared sure but hindsight is always 20/20.

With respect to testing, pre-Covid viral testing rarely happened. There is a reason the CDC estimates flu deaths and cases. Viral testing is expensive and rarely used. Ask any doctor. The US also imports most of its medical supplies and testing supplies.

Trump is a terrible president but I doubt that Obama or Bush or Clinton or any other president would've handled this much differently. None of them would've put the Nation in a lock down in February or early March.

Add in the fact America is one of the most unhealthy populations in the world.

We love going out to to eat and one of the most "difficult ordeals" the 6 weeks of March for us was that the Chinese take out place we weekly got carry out from closed to distance themselves form the virus and the racist blowback...we were so happy when we could get carryout agin last week.

Another one of our favorites the 4th Street Shrimp store started order and pick up but we didn't take advantage of going there and picking up, but when our Governor decided to get in line with others in his party and decided he was opening the insides of restaurants with restrictions, my wife said, "go order and pick up some popcorn shrimp dinners." So...I go and as I wait to have them bring them out, I notice their porch seating has for two person parties at tables for four but they are close MAYBE six feet, but maybe not, and NOT one of these diners had mask or gloves.
I love some Texas Roadhouse especially whentarveling (I like the one in Elizabethtown Ky a lot next to the motels) and forth vERY start the barrage us with e-mails BEFORE going to pick up only, on how they were going to limited seating, had it under control etc.
Teams Roadhouse has a LOT of young people working there. Maybe I am predjudice but I know how hygienically cavalier I have been most of my life, until the past months...so I am nit sure I am ready to trust restaurants just yet...all those past years of watching tables wiped down with already used rags, just is hanging like the sword of Damocles.

Yeah, I confess you got me, I am uncleanly in terms of hand washing prior to this...yoiu to my boogers when ai made you guacamole...but all I thought when I read your bolded words was about all the indentured servants (still basically slaves) in India, and how their flight is so much more unhealthy or the entire villages in Africa were they safer a water source and share toliet facilities that hold them at huge risk, so I am happy to be here with etc rest of unhealthy slobs.

Just beware when you go to Epoch News to know who they are and support.

You do understand that there were gags on what Dr. Fauci to say, that in the effort to not ALARM the public, not DECEIVE the public. The idea to get ready and monitor and actually attempt to maybe stop this airplane flights...all had big ramifications.
So we pay the price.

Yeah I figured someone had thought of it already.
I have two things u can say and worth a chuckl about Steve Dahl.

Once I saw him in a show he did as a friend talked me into going. During opening monologue somthing broke or had to be repaired with his guitar. So to kill time he dropped his pants, sat in a toilet brought onto stage and told jokes foir half an hour
Later I told the friend I think it was part of his stage show and was not funny - maybe a laugh initialy....so that is part of his act, huh.

Another time he lived next door where I was helping a lady friend with an estate sale. In a nice sub division in Western Springs. He saw the foot traffic and put signs up to stay off his grass. Who knows maybe he was insecure strangers gawking at his BMW X5 in his driveway. Really I bet he just wanted privacy and used that as a guise
