I'm probably in the minority but I wish they played less games every year, and not a condensed schedule type of thing. That way every game would be more meaningful and the players would have more energy adding up to better hockey IMO.

100% correct here.

What is the number however? 76 games? 72? Tough to say....

To me around 70 would be good. That's nearly one less game every 2 weeks.

The gate revenue lost is the problem but I think less games is also better. Also start in early September & PO’s start end of February. They could fit IIHF world championships much easier.

So I see the schedule as games played at let’s pick say 76.

Eastern Conf 16x2 is 32 games right there. Important fans can see every team at least once. Central 8x2 is 16 games leaving 7x4 28 inter division games totalling the 76 games.

6 less games is about 2 weeks less time for a regular season.

I like 82. I am a hockey fanatic and I could watch three times a week every week of the year.

I love the sport when it's played at it's highest intensity. I just find the schedule gruelling. I don't really like the 3 games in 4 days thing at all, even for a home team.

Yeah I guess we're totally different.

I've struggled to watch many a Stanley Cup once the weather turns, especially when it's on early.

Most years I have a hard time getting into pre-season with the September weather and the start of NFL regular season. I guess it was different when I didn't have school aged children.

A condensed round robin scenario to play out the season with a larger roster (AHL) would be fascinating to watch and dissect.
You could rest your ageing stars, rotate role players and experiment before the playoffs.

I really suggest next year the guys here buying the Comets package if they can afford.

70 USD I think the league will struggle next year and can use help. Not only that but they will provide a good entertaining team and it will give you a good idea of who is who and how close they are to ready.
