I believe people's real gripe with the lock downs is how arbitrary the laws were. First it was 2 weeks flatten the curve, then another month. After 45 days it essentially became we will keep this lock down until we say so... despite curves flattening. Also determine what is essential and what isn't, what phase do I get to open. And people who haven't been able to work coupled with 3 months of partial government benefits are no longer paying the bills. It's natural people will be pissed. How long can the burden be placed solely on the average citizen?

well the biggest argument about "opening up" seems to be about people who are tired of sacrificing their social schedule. because this idea that you "re-open" and the economy magically starts turning a corner is fallacy. the people hardest hit by this are going to continue to suffer even when Joe Beef opens to 50% capacity.

economically, it's more sensible to make sure you're re-opening properly so as best to contain additional spread of this thing as much as possible. because what good is re-opening if it means a spike in cases and keeps people confined to their houses and potentially causes a second wave of lockdowns? if that means an extra month or two, so be it. masks are a good example. people have come around on this and usage has been increasing drastically. that's going to help contain spread whereas if you had opened a month ago when no one was wearing them, you'd have been missing that key mitigation piece.

really there's no good solution or POA at this point. there's just varying degrees of pooptiness.

while ideal, you also have to place some trust in people to do the right thing.

But ya, there is no great solution at this point where everything will be okay

well the issue with the decreasing numbers is that with more testing it means the numbers on paper will increase. Also, a lot of places where people test positive for antibodies get added to the total positive case number.

Then say death toll. Not just numbers, especially when most refer to total cases when they simply say numbers. I know you have trouble keeping up with a lot on here, but you should be more polite when people misunderstand your attempts at sounding like you know anything.

We put up with enough of your poor hockey talk already.

Hains: How Would you Feel?

Word is, there could be an announcement today about an upcoming 24 team NHL playoffs tournament...

- Karine Hains

this is absolute high-end b.s. is this supposed to be some kind of delusional reward to the 8 non playoff teams because the last 10 games of the season were cancelled? is it supposed to be a reward to the fans?

I, for one, would be angry as hell if the canadiens didn't end up in the draft lottery. we fans just put up with another season of total and complete ineptness, mediocrity and historic losing streaks and now you're telling me that the team is being rewarded for being 24th in a 31 team league? the fools who run this league are proposing that the canadiens make the playoffs and lose a shot in the draft lottery?

I've got news for those numbskulls, I want the draft position that my canadiens rightfully earned and earned honestly with their poorly run, completely mismanaged and ho-hum, yawn, yawn, yawn on ice play. When our team, my team, actually earns a real playoff spot, then, it will be meaningful. in he meantime, I want the lottery pick. the canadiens need it far more than the nhl throwing them a bone for finishing 24th.

Some people will never have common sense. There's always the 5-10% of very stupid people that you have to write "Caution - Hot" on their coffee so they don't burn themselves.
