I'm still saying they could just use Roxham road, it's an illegal port of entry but it's a loophole they've been exploiting |

For the love of God, take the teams that are .500 or higher. That includes the Rangers and the Blackhawks. It does not include the Sabres and Ducks. No way should the Sabres and Ducks be sniffing the playoffs. |

No.
That is why 24 is dumb. None of those teams should be in the playoffs. - Mashadar
It's not dumb because it includes all the teams that had a legit shot at making it before the season shut down. |

Rangers and Hawks should definitely be in over Ducks and Sabres.
Better records now and they had the better chances of improving as the season went on....and do either the Ducks or Sabres think there's a chance in hell they are going to get anywhere in the playoffs? I think not.

One thing not discussed much is where everyone would be on points if they all played the same # of games.
Before playoffs start, everyone should have the same # of games played. |

Bringing in 24 teams is nothing short of a god damn joke! Top 8 teams in each conference get in, if any teams has a better winning % then the wildcard teams that have more points, then a 1 game win or go home game are played by those teams. Top teams are then not getting rusty and the teams that do not deserve to be in are not in. Then all games are best 4 out of 7 like they should be. |

I think it was meant to show the ridiculousness of the entire concept. - Tragically Buffalo
Yes...the answer is the league losing more money and cancel the season completely and the cap flatlines.
That’s a fantastic strategy!! |

so Columbus gets in over the Rangers in your world because of their 15 loser points? |

Actually I like the Rangers lol. Even the 2 teams outside the 2 wilcard spots play the wildcard teams one game is fine. All I know is 24 is too many. |

How about the top 12 or 16 play for the asterisk cup, and the bottom 15 play for, well, nothing other than revenue. They can have a loser bracket and just play hockey. I am sure that will be quality.
There isn't a way to make it fair to determine the playoff teams unless they do a 3 game play in series for bubble teams. Do NYI get bumped because they played less games? Same in the West. It sucks because there were only 11-14 games left. I get it and we all want sports to return. The entire thing is a mess. Maybe the bottom teams (outside the bottom 12 on each side) can play a one game and move on until there are 4 bubble teams that play a 3 game set until the get to 16 and play best of 7. You still have an issue with seeding.

Problem is we’re in a pandemic lol. All normal things are out the window. You can’t do the top 8 like normal as is because that’s unfair, to the rangers and other teams. They’ll come up with something fair and balanced, and with integrity to the sport.
It’s also very unfair to players who’s life expectancy in hockey doesn’t last forever, so the league owes it to them to get some sort of playoffs going. And some of them haven’t played a full season and now they obviously can’t play the schedule they created last year |

I was thinking maybe take the top 6 teams in each conference.
Then take the next 6 in each conference and feed them to the Buzztron. It can determine who makes it through to become team #7 and 8.
At that point you have 8 teams in each conference. Buzztron handles the rest.
Flyers in 8 over the Los Angeles Raiders. |

talk about franking irony.... I waited 47 years to finally get Sabres Season tickets and if the Sabres actually do get in to the playoff's I wont be able to go in person.
And by the way if they do get in, Ill take it but it would be a Joke....

It would be ridiculous to use a formula, then change it because 2 large market teams are on the outside looking in. Typical NHL if that is how it goes.
if they want to insert the 2 "Big" name teams then give Buffalo and Anaheim the top 2 picks in the draft.

It is what it is. Can’t make exceptions. Sabres in. Rangers out. Sabres and the Blues in the cup final. |
