It's fair but really who knows what the league is going to do?

Normally you have a 16 team playoffs with a 15 team lottery. IF the league goes with a 24 team playoffs you'd think they'd have a 7 team lottery. BUT if they decide they're having 24 teams compete to get to a 16 team playoffs how do they run the draft lottery? Would you have 7 or 15 teams participate in the draft lottery?

It would be complete douche for eight teams to be in the 24 'playoff' group and also be lottery eligible. At that point the 'play in games' to get from 24 to 16 teams are really just a replacement of the regular season but you having the bottom 7 teams not participating.

They are 30-31-8 with 68 pts. They do not deserve to get in. Doesn't matter what player they have, the TEAM did not do well this season.

Just finish the season and go from there. None of those teams deserve to be in the playoffs. At any rate, some of those teams played more games and therefore have more points as well (Montreal). Some of those teams didn't have their better goalie injured for a long period of time, etc., etc. ... just finish the season, the real rankings of the draft depends upon it.

I agree that there are lots of real issues and it’s still not clear that they’ll be able to pull it off. I just don’t think the purity of the format matters if they can get more $ from more teams.
