Especially since it would probably take an eighteen year old goalie 4 or 5 years to even begin to sniff the NHL. Or a commie one to come over, if at all.

Askarov will be in the KHL next year .He could be NHL ready two years .

Danny Wirtz sent a memo to Blackhawks employees today referencing an "orderly and in-depth review of our organization."

That review recently led to furloughs and salary reductions for some employees.

@jon_greenberg

Blackhawks are the only team in town we know of that is issuing furloughs.

"...the franchise continues to “pivot in a new direction.”

The Hawks’ “core front office, business and hockey operations teams” have been left intact, the memo adds."

He will still be under contract to the KHL in two years. You should watch those videos again and look for how many times the puck bounces off of him. That is on the larger rinks. He will be a pinball machine on NA ice.

He is going to need time to adjust. At least a season. He won't be sniffing the NHL for 3 season minimum. Prolly longer.

Save the best prospect since Carey Price stuff, too. Compare the numbers between Price and Crow. They are pretty similar. Aside from Cups. Crow has more than Price will ever see

I don't know about any contract he is sign to .In the video I see rebounds come off of fantastic saves that would otherwise been in the net . Hey if Askarov can be on par with either Crow or Price he worth the pick .

Funny how I know practicly nothing about Shakespeare, but that line popped when I saw Brian Burke comments on a 24 team field practicly guarantees there will be an issue with Covid19.

You can infer what Burke is getting at without even studying his remarks. With additional teams and playoff.games, the odds increase wherein through checking and even man -to - man contestimg puck control, the act of breathing from one infected Covid19 carrier to an opposing player....... causes one player to pass the virus. And possibly both players wind up sooner or later out for remainder of playoffs

That being said, what brand of hockey should we expect? From the first games or not until someone calls in sick with the virus.......games become very gentleman friendly as in avoiding contact and much less intensity.

That is the question. How will the games be played![/img]

So we get Edmonton.
Four teams in the top seeds get byes and subsequent play remaining four form. the play in series.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Top seeds: Boston Bruins (1), Tampa Bay Lightning (2), Washington Capitals (3), Philadelphia Flyers (4)

Play-in series: Pittsburgh Penguins (5) vs. Montreal Canadiens (12), Carolina Hurricanes (6) vs. New York Rangers (11), New York Islanders (7) vs. Florida Panthers (10), Toronto Maple Leafs (8) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets (9)

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Top seeds: St. Louis Blues (1), Colorado Avalanche (2), Vegas Golden Knights (3), Dallas Stars (4)

Play-in series: Edmonton Oilers (5) vs. Chicago Blackhawks (12), Nashville Predators (6) vs. Arizona Coyotes (11), Vancouver Canucks (7) vs. Minnesota Wild (10), Calgary Flames (8) vs. Winnipeg Jets (9)

So far the hawks defeat Edmonton, and IT LOOKS like they become the 8th seed in the real Cup dance...and are in playing St. Louis in the first round.

Is that something to play for?

The Draft - these were the past rules for draft order
The teams that did not qualify for the playoffs the previous season (picks 1– 16 now 1-7)

The teams that made the playoffs in the previous season but did not win either their division in the regular season or play in the Conference Finals (picks 16–23 up to 27)

My thinking is if one of these teams WINS a play-in series, the get moved higher, so the hawks would "probably' get bump up and the teams that lose that play-in, say Edmonton (via Hawks, and the three other losers) and the other four would elect in 8, 9, 10 and 11...
I don't know but makes sense, right?

and then the order follows the rule sin place:
The teams that won their divisions in the previous season but did not play in the Conference Finals (potentially picks 24–27)
The teams that lose in Conference Finals (picks 28 and 29)
The team that was the runner-up in the Stanley Cup Finals (pick 30)
The team that won the Stanley Cup in the previous season (pick 31)

I hope not. Not too sure on attendance, which I know players "feed off of," but playoffs are playoffs. I hope fighting to be the best can essentially elevate gameplay. But, still hoping all remain healthy to continue.

Nope, but if Hawks match up against Oilers in a 3 of 5. I give them at least a 30% chance of getting to the next stage. Oilers might be as good a chance as the Hawks could hope to get. Hawks shouldn't even be there...but, since they look to be. Let's go!

I'm not sure how accurate any of the seeding positions are going to be.

Taking this much time off, doing nothing but working out on your, probably not skating, coming back to fast, I just don't think every team is going to come out and perform to their seeding level.

Both good and bad.

Have any season ticket holders gotten any money back for missed games by any team?

It’s obvious now that the remaining games for the indoor sports will not be played in front of fans, if at all - and baseball certainly is going to lose half of its games.

Maybe I missed it....

Just thought of something. If the Hawks play the Oilers in the proposed first round series, that jerk Mike Smith will be in goal for Edmonton.

So .Don't matter were you find them .A great goalie is very important to a team success .Sometimes you get lucky and find them in latter rounds .Askarov just happened=s to be already identified as a blue chip prospect .And at 9th in this draft if by chance he is available I believe the HAWKS should select him . There depth at the goaltending position is very weak . It seems to me it is time to bolster that positions .

Unless it is "bracketed" like the NCAA basketball tourney. In which case, if they beat Edmonton (#5), they assume the Oilers seed and play #4 (Dallas). CSN Chicago seems to think that it will be bracketed.

Should that be the case, they would theoretically get the Blues in the next round after Dallas (#1 vs #4).

- Snakebit12

I apologize I simply neglected mentioning the BYE teams "series" and subsequent -reallignmet after that and before the REAL 16 playoff starts...I DID mention in the blog (s) before...I simply thought you thought the Hawks winning the play in was gonna were through them up to the loser's original standings rank it would not...I am gonna repost

The top-four teams in each conference qualify for the 16-team playoffs, receiving a bye from the 16-team, best-of-five play-in series. They will, however, play a three-game round-robin against each other to determine their final seedings.
“In the Eastern Conference, the opening round will play out like this:
• 5. Pittsburgh vs. 12. Montreal (winner plays four seed)
• 6. Carolina vs. 11. Rangers (winner plays three seed)
• 7. Islanders vs. 10. Florida (winner plays two seed)
• 8. Toronto vs. 9. Columbus (winner plays one seed)
And the Western Conference opening round will play out like this:
• 5. Edmonton vs. 12. Chicago (winner plays four seed)
• 6. Nashville vs. 11. Arizona (winner plays three seed)
• 7. Vancouver vs. 10. Minnesota (winner plays two seed)
• 8. Calgary vs. 9. Winnipeg (winner plays one seed)”
“Once the play-in tournament has concluded, the playoffs will be “bracketed” — similar to what is done in the NCAA tournament — meaning any of the top-four teams in the East or West could actually end up facing the lowest remaining seed following the play-in round. For example, the No. 4 seed could face No. 12 Montreal (in the event the Canadiens pulled off an upset over No. 5 Pittsburgh) while the No. 1 seed would be left with the winner of No. 8 Toronto vs. No. 9 Columbus.”

You see a Montreal upset keeps them at lowest slot #16, but the winners in the bye teams will determine a "new" #1 seed who WILL play them...so say Colorado dusts the other bye teams and need up #1 they play the lowest team , the Bye team slotted #2 plays the next lowest team, as the playoffs always did...

Not sure about Chicago, but my father just got notice yesterday that the Blazers would be refunding the remainder of his season tickets.

Sure and Antti played very well ,did he sustain it ,not really . And there is the crux of the problem sustainability .The HAWKS made a nice pick 2nd Rd. with Crow ,and after some time down on the farm they had a A + goalie to work with .
Now with Askarov you have a chance to grab a guy who COULD BE a above average to great goalie for the 10 to 12 years ,what you do with that blessing is up to the FO . But a very important brick is in place
