they need to get keith of the PP. he is terrible at it and can save his legs for PK and regular time. I don't think I have ever seen a worst shot on a player that has played PP for 10 years in my life. 2 things happen he pump fakes and lets the defender get in has lane and he s shots it into his skates or he misses really wide/high, not by a foot which might get redirected, but by 5 feet. - kmw4631
Keith will be on the PP until he retires, preferably the 2nd unit.
Thought Keith played well during the latter stretch of games before the shut down so I have no qualms if he can sustain that once play resumes.
However, I could see PP2 icing two D-men in Keith and say Mitchell (idol and young padawan). PP1 should just be Boqvist with 4 forwards, IMO. |

Depends on if you want another Championship for Toews and Kane. Keeping Keith and a few good moves maybe gets them competitive next year or the year after. Otherwise you're talking about 4-5 and one of none of them is around at that point.
I think they need to try to make it work while they still have superstars who are capable of being superstars. This isn't baseball where prospects \ futures have a lot of value unless you get them in bulk across multiple rounds over two or three years.
Baseball also has no salary cap, so you can wait on prospects while still signing someone you need for big money. The way the NHL is structured, I don't think you can hope to add the pieces you truly need.
For example, lets say they need Roman Josi. They can't afford Roman Josi, so they have to find a cheap Roman Josi type. Usually that means one of two things...that player is obviously not as good or is young. Either way, you either don't want him or the team that has him won't trade him. So, you go with the big name FA. Maybe that FA doesn't fit into what you need.
I don't know the answer, there really isn't one, but it seems that for the most part it's hitting on draft picks and getting lucky with FA or fleecing a GM on a trade.

I would venture to say Tallon and Q would love to have Keith on the Panthers for the same reason Tyler outlined in his blog for why the Blackhawks need to retain him: to mentor the young D.
Having Keith mentor Ekblad, Matheson, Weegar, Stillman, and Brown would be wonderful. I'd rather have Keith mentoring Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudin, Carlsson, and Krys.
If there was a Keith trade to be had with Florida, ask for a 1st + Denisenko...then Tallon hangs up. - AEL_Fox
Wells sure you will ask for the moon ,may not get it . Everyone has a number .You would make that deal ,even if Dale may not . Maybe we throw in a 2nd to .
Instant Krys gone . ? |

From TSN, I thought this was funny:
(5) Edmonton Oilers vs. (12) Chicago Blackhawks
I hope this matchup comes to fruition, because the offence will be electric and the defence will be non-existent. The three head-to-head matchups this regular season saw 19 goals scored, and both Edmonton (23rd) and Chicago (29th) finished near the bottom of the league in expected goals against. Between the likes of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Patrick Kane, we are going to see some absolute offensive wizardry.

yeah, agreed - unless some playoff team has a top five pick they would idiotically trade for him... - wiz1901
the chances of that happening are extremely rare.
the only way i would be moving keith is if a team completely overpays. meaning multiple draft picks and at least one player that is that organization's top prospect.

The Hawks at this time shouldn't even consider giving up draft picks. They are in the acquiring phase. |

The stat doesn’t help the case:
19 goals in 3 games = 6.33 per game - the average GPG for the season was 6.04. |

can I see those disparaging quotes? - wiz1901
Hockey players don't often speak out side of platitudes so it is kind of difficult to gage but:
Lazerus article in the athletic where he was talking about how frustrated he was insinuated he had an issue with the coach.
When he was irritated and and voiced that about the Seabrook scratching.
Took shots at their preparedness in February generally means I dont want to play for this bozo if it means anything.
He doesn't chase around the ice like a wombat on speed and looks like he tells his partner how to play. He has pretty much decided not to play the garbage scheme that JC has the other defenders getting torched. |

Yes wiz. Funny. But, VERY true. Would be interesting, fast, sloppy defense, and many goals and near-goals. I still think we come out on the short end....but, we would have a chance. Hawks don't deserve to be there. But, may as well make the most of it, and win three 6-5 games.... |

I drink Coke .Keith is a great player .I was not so sure about mentor after the development league comment .Seebs although lost a step or two seemed to me to be the bigger mentor of the two. Would you trade Keith for Florida 1st pick 13th this year and a prospect .Deep draft . Just asking from the crazy side .. - oldduffman

The biggest financial change I have noticed in hockey the last five years and I could be wrong but it seems like teams are no longer doing "bridge deals" with their young stars on their second contracts. If Toews and Kane don't do their bridge deals Hawks are only a one cup pony. You can't build a team fast enough when one or two stars cost $25M+ after three years. |

Sooooo true. Leafs finding themselves in that very spot right now. 3 players tied up with HUGE 10+ million deals, and have won ZERO Cups between the 3 of them. Hard to build around that. |

I agree the bridge seems to be out in the NHL . Leafs are a perfect example. I thought DBC was a nice bridge ,hope he lives up to it next year or might be the end of the road .
Leafs took as risk with Matthews ,I could see him bolting after that deal |

First Bulls puck in their expansion draft - 4th most wins of any coach (I think).
Great defensive player, the guys of a loaded early 70s Bulls team - his matchups with Jerry West were classic.
He should have had a championship with the Bulls - and one leading Utah.

I would wager that you start to see a lot more of them (at least in the short term) while the league gets a better understanding of the new landscape. As much as it sucks for the players, it may e advantageous for signing the likes of Kubalik and Strome.
Personally, if I was a player, I think I would prefer to have a shorter deal at that age. Then I would have a bit more control over where I played going forward. Obviously the security is nice, but to be locked in for 7-8 years with the amount of roster and coaching turnover there is in the league, I think the flexibility would be nice. |
