Maybe they can dress up some sex dolls and then handcuff them to the nets to play goalie.

So line rushes, 3 forwards, 2 D and a goalie, no coaches (in the building).

Here’s an idea. For games, do they really need coaches on the benches? I’m pretty sure these grown men know how to open and close the gates. Just mount an iPad and the coaches can video chat with guys during stoppages, let the players know who’s up next, decide on coaches challenge etc.

Yeah, practice, I get it. What are six guys and no coaches going to work on?

And yes, I got the joke too, you don’t need to add a meme.

I don’t understand why they don’t just shut it down and re-start next October. Simply put “season canceled” on the 2019/20 space.

A lot of chatter on Twitter about Jim Benning as he’s just had his 6th anniversary as Canucks GM. Another polarizing debate where you’re firmly on one side or the other. I’ve abstained thus far

That's too easy and logical of a decision, so therefore it cant happen.

broadcast revenue. they'll have to compensate their broadcast partners which effectively means little revenue tv-wise next season. add in the fact that gate capacity will be reduced (either to zero or 1/2 to 1/4) and that means that the league will be operating for very little revenue next season.

they need to finish this season just so they get the full tv revenue next season.

and we're not just talking national tv revenue. just remember that local tv revenue comes in to play as well. imagine the canucks having to play in a reduced (by government mandate) capacity rogers arena and having to give free games next year to sportsnet because they didn't fulfill their tv obligations this season. and they wouldn't be getting their regular cut of the national revenue either. and the canucks are a "rich big market" club.

Seriously....you think they’re just gonna pick up right where they left off? I know you don’t, you’re just being obtuse. It takes time to re-develop the skills required to be a professional athlete from a lengthy bit of time off.

From a business point of view, I get it, from a moral point of view, it makes little sense.

Yes, but what’s the point of limiting practice and not games? These guys will be exposed to physical contact, why shelter their practice? I don’t think they can be productive in six man units without coaches to get to the level we expect.
