Thanks Carol, lots to digest there.
Went to home game #1 of the series with the Leafs, and home game #2 in the NYR series. |

It’s going back a lot of years, and the result I think has skewed our memory, but wasn’t there a lot of optimism among the fan base at the time of the signing? Canucks were bringing in one of the games all time greats, and the player largely responsible for their defeat only a few years earlier in the SCF. |

I can and I was pissed, I hated Messier and Keenan, Lefty talks fondly of that era because Linden was traded, but it was a disaster in my opinion. |

I wasn’t ever a fan of Messier coming on-board, he was 36 years old and his best years were behind him, however, when Linden was traded I was excited about the youthful talent and the possibilities that brings.

As soon as Quinn was fired, that was the beginning of the end.
Quinn was probably the best GM is Canucks history. The man was a wizard and pure class..... |

yes and this is one of my biggest points of contention with messier (ha *spit*). he was brought in as the missing piece. someone who knew how to win to carry the contending team over the hump.
his personalized narrative to build a revisionist history is that he was brought in to a rebuilding team. that is utter horse sh!t to gloss over his personal responsibility (and i'm not saying it's his alone) in the destruction of that team.
so to you answer your question; yes there was optimism. it was a contender that seemed to be missing a piece. that "piece" was thought to be a leader who had already won the cup.
also of note is that the team had missed out on gretzky earlier so this seemed to be the consolation prize. |

i've hated messier since i was a kid who saw him two hand tomahawk chop gradin straight on the head with his stick. that was one of the dirtiest things i've seen. it would be at least a 40 game suspension in today's game.
fcuk that pr!ck.

100% Quinn was the ultimate builder he had so much success with trades, signing and just generally building are contending team.
His drafting was less than remarkable though, why can’t we ever find a guy who is good at trades signing and drafting? |

To be fair, the Linden trade was one of the best in Canucks history. I think he talks fondly about that trade, for sure, and he’s not wrong. As for iron mike and the moose... ya thanks but no thanks then and now for me |

You can test Asymptomatic people, that's not the issue. The issue is that the testing isnt conclusive enough. You can be covid19 positive, be in a Asymptomatic phase and give a negative test result. The test is super sensitive, which is why the 14 day "incubation" or "isolation" is in place. - Codes1087
It's good enough. Gives em a few tests and the probability they were all false negatives goes down... |
