Everyone knows there are risks in everyday life. We are free to drive or not. I like the fact that the government has stuck its nose in to mandate children’s vaccinations. Oh and they make us take a driving test which is good. Decisions on opening the economy will have impacts on health and require sober reasoning. Jefferson as a man of integrity would not make decisions in a slap dash manner just to make himself look good. And I don’t believe he would disregard scientific guidance. As for me, I will continue to wear a mask out of respect for my fellow citizens and hope they do so for me.

This leads me to making the comment that we have to stop believing that the experts are infallible. They're not. They've made a lot of mistakes and have been proven to be wrong about a lot of things.

because it's not true

there are states that have been opening up and are experiencing increases in infections

- Coburns_Nose

What I don't understand is this. The disease is supposed to show symptoms within 7-14 days. Yet somehow all these people went out, caught the disease, started showing symptoms, went and got tested, and tested positive all within 72 hours?

Really?

I think he’s referring to places which opened even earlier. Look at the hairdresser who exposed 100+ people to it. The way people acted this weekend the numbers will only go up.

It’s not a lot to ask people to wear masks and not be in massive crowds but that’s just me.

I don’t think they want to start competing against MLB in addition to the NBA.

I do agree that next season starting on time is very unlikely at this point.

You can still carry and be asymptomatic.

It's why I can't get a test even though I'd like one. You still need a referral here, in SE PA at least.

Round robin tournament between the top four teams to determine seeding? What exactly does that mean? How many games?
- Dkos

I would imagine 3 games. Right? Has to be.

These “leaders” aren’t even wearing masks while supporting the idea of it in the public eye.
- SuperSchennBros

Of course not. The hypocrisy of tyrants always is grounded in the philosophy "What applies to thee does not apply to me."

Whitmer's governing motto is "the beatings will continue until morale improves."

You've agreed with me. You freely CHOOSE to wear a mask. Others freely choose not to wear a mask. Me? I volunteer to wear one in crowded stores, but not outdoors, and certainly not driving in my car. Have you seen those knuckleheads driving alone in their cars with their masks on? Cracks me the F up. So long as your not a "Karen" who snitches on their neighbors for having a couple of people over for some beers out back. Live and let live, my friend.

You don't seem like you're really informed about the science since the objective data, in the link I sent you (it's a video, but you can click on the link to the fully cross referenced and linked article that is the basis of the video) seems to be ignored. You'll see. The more and more we learn about this WuFlu, the lower and lower the mortality rate will go. As the testing gets more ubiquitous for both PCR and Serology tests, the higher the denominator (total cases) goes and the lower the mortality rate goes.

I don't know how old you are but we actually had a pandemic in 2009-2010. That was called the Swine Flu. It's estimated that 60 million people in America contracted it and somewhere in the range of a hundred thousand to a couple of hundred thousand died from it. We did NOT shut the whole country down. I know a few people that had it and recovered fine. This is no different. Shutting down and forced social distancing may actually prove to be worse in the long run. We shall see.

I want hockey back ASAP.

THIS!

We shut down the greatest economic engine in the world based upon "models" that have proven to be so radically wrong as to make any sane person question what the heck we were doing listening to them? And why keep listening to people that have proven to be completely unreliable to the point of irresponsible.

Are the increases in infections due to infections increasing, or are there more infections because there is more testing being done? NY City is seeing a reduction.

probably both

to me it's the death count that matters

or rather, the number of people who died whose deaths could have been avoided if the people around them took certain precautions

NHL teams have the resources and the motivation to do things the right way. Unfortunately there's people in all 50 states who don't

You are missing the point. They blamed the spike on people being out after 72 hours. How is that possible? Since all of those things I posted are very unlikely, the spike had nothing to do with relaxing the quarantine. If that were the case it would be a week to ten days from now.

China would like to debate this with you

Because even experts are wrong sometimes, and people with education/experience are right more often than the people without it

Ask the head of epidemiology at Stanford University. Or the same at Yale University. I think you'll find an answer you don't like. These are serious people looking at the data, not the media hype or the politics.

Read this. All cross linked and referenced research. You may not like it because it doesn't fit your preconceived ideas, but if you're open to science, you may begin to rethink what we've all been told.

There was a failure to protect people who couldn't protect themselves. It's heartbreaking but it is now time to focus on the elderly and those with underlying conditions while everyone else can, with precautions, get the country going again.

I'll post this again.

China would lose the debate. As far as your second point here, we should not be following them with blind faith. There are many experts with many different points of views.

I find it absurd that my local Wal-Mart can have hundreds if not a thousand plus people in and out on a daily basis but an NHL team and staff can't practice at a hockey rink.
- MJL

This sums up the stupidity of what this has become..

In NJ stores have signs up saying you cant come in without a mask ...unless you have a medical condition then you dont need a mask..and no employee of the store can ask you for confirmation of that medical condition.

Like MJL said you can go to Wal-Mart and cross paths with large numbers of people daily..

Hockey teams practicing in a private rink fully, NO WAY!! Cant have that.

I read a recent study where 318 of clusters of COVID-19 infections were looked at. A cluster is where an infection started and was passed onto a group of people. In 317 out of 318 cases, the infection was passed indoors. We are safer outside than inside.
Even if there wasn't a pandemic, the human body needs to be outside.
