Fans of Canadian teams don't want another Canadian team to win it FYI...would rather a team with two fans down south win to avoid the media/bragging.

We are quite happy with Carolina type wins when our team is eliminated so its not really a sore spot at all like some of you seem to think. Most of the country had a party when Vancouver lost to Boston.

What 68/69 games are you going to use - the first 68 or most recent 68? How is this fair to teams who have gone through the 'grind' of their schedules, played the better teams, had the longer road trips and were looking forward to the more basic part of their schedules.

Also - if TV contracts demand the regular season be completed with a minimum number of games televised live then for the players to fulfill their part of the CBA without huge escrow they need to finish the season (ie. the pre round-of-16 games). The playoffs dont start with 24, this is a roundoff to the season that does its best to honor what has been achieved and cut short and lost. The regular season stats will get an asterix along with individual stats. The cup will be the most contested and difficult to win ever.

Doc why not tell them the size of the virus and the filtering capacity of n95 masks. The mask cannot stop the virus.

The virus is usually embedded in a respiratory droplet (saliva, phlegm, mucus) aka aerosolized. Else, it would not have the mass to travel any appreciable distance. You don't have to worry about being infected by a single loose virus floating finding its way to your facial orifices. The aerodynamics of your body will move it out of your way if you are moving. If you are stationary, the chances are miniscule, and comparable to being struck by lightning.

The diameter of those aerosolized droplets are within the capacity of N95 masks to filter out.

There was fear early on that anesthesiologists, who need to put their face very close to an infected person's open mouth for ventilator intubation, would be very affected. But with properly fitted N95 masks, there has been little to no evidence of this.

What happens if people get sick this winter ? Are you going to shut down the country again ? I personally know people who might lose there house. Everybody I know wants the country to reopen. You can’t just keep sticking your head in the sand. America has to work. I would rather get it than starve or lose everything I’ve worked for business wise.

I’m not disagreeing there is an economic argument tomopen what you can. I may lose my house too. My wife’s work is affected. My retirement is now shot and I’m 56.
I’m only saying that people are misunderstanding reopening as meaning we are past it and safe and don’t have to take proper precautions. Reopen what can be done relatively safely by all means. Just take all the reasonable precautions you can. I feel for people very much through this. I just see people taking risks that they could easily decrease which put my 80/83 yr old parents at risk unnecessarily.
The goal of pandemic precautions is to try to keep people alive and not overwhelm the health care capacity we have. You can do that and still have some reopenings.

I agree with everything else you wrote, but this is incorrect. The mask will definitely protect you as well by significantly reducing the probability of infection and every reasonable mask will confer some protection. In fact, surgical masks, which are much lower tech than N95, also do a very good job from protecting from all coronaviruses.

If a team that was in the playoffs based on Pts.% or on game 68 standings, AND they have to go through the same 7-game series as usual, then no asterisk.

The additional 8 teams have no business being there.

So if your team has to go through a play-in series (or not) and then has to go through 4, 7 game series ALL on the road and they win... why the asterisk? The net difference was that the season was shortened by 14 or so games and there was a delay where nobody played and there was a potentially even more difficult playoff scenario.

The thing is the 95 Devils took and incredibly hard road to the cup that went thru Boston, Pittsburgh, Philly and Detroit. We were ranked lower then every team we played and SWEPT the president's trophy winning Detroit Red Wings.

I am very sympathetic to the economic hardships of people because of the lockdown, but everyone is definitely not in favor of the country reopening. In fact, a very strong majority wants restrictions to continue. Maybe you should change your social circle.

Pretty much every poll has shown the same thing. As restrictions continue, and infection rates fall, these measures will become victims of their own success.

No one has an easy road to the Cup, ever. Same thing this year. If a 17-24 team beats their opponent then they are the better team. If a top ranked team loses to an underdog then the underdog was the better team. You need to win four (or maybe even five) series. Whoever does that earns the title, no asterisk necessary.

I never understood why people put so much thought and worry into getting an “easier” road to the Cup. You may get one opponent who is a better matchup but any team that advances is playing well and will be a tough win. There is no such thing as an easy road to the Stanley Cup. Never has been.

1967 & earlier was a 2 round cup & 4 of the 6 teams were in. Was harder to miss the PO’s than it was to make them.
