Yeah pretty mixed. Guess which Trump tweet is about armed white guys in a state capital who want the freedom to get haircuts and which is about blacks protesting another cop killing.

the Trump hate is going to far though.
seems perfectly reasonable that there is another approach on a group that is protesting in a peaceful way (taking away the guns - I take that as 'this is the US') vs people burning down their city, stealing, rioting..
p.s. we all agree that Trump is a bafoon - but you cannot just simply ridicule every little thing he says/does, I definitely don't think this 'tale of two twitter-posts' is so strange. |

I sort of see this point, but on the other hand, if thousands of black guys in camo with rifles gathered peacefully but boisterously around the White House, I'd be willing to bet my left nut that Trump's tweet would be of a different tone than it was about the loogan doogans in Michigan.

And yes I realize the scenario is flawed because you can't pack heat in DC. Which seems funny if you think about it. |

Excellent point Zezel. Terrible stuff going on. Is Saint Paul one of the favorites to be a Hub city now that Toronto is out? Just asking for a friend.

Can we just go back to talk about hockey?
I'm even happy to be insulted because of the fact that I don't think Nylander is such a great player as some seem to think on here - as long as it won't go back to an eternal discussion on politics, Trump vs Biden (same thing in a different flavor if you ask me) or anything that doesn't have to do with hockey.
Personally I look forward to July/August hockey - is there any information on schedules? how many games per day, what times, etc.? I guess not yet since first cities need to be chosen?
Nashville and Vegas seem to be the most logical choices? (that's based on hotel availability and timezones - I have no clue about the rinks or other issues) |

I was referring to posts on the site about doughty. - burn
I know but is anybody other than JFJ suggesting that bring in Doughty is a good idea. |

Dallas.
Texas has an incredibly low per capita death rate and a governor who will do anything to get sports going.
Toronto would be perfect because of access to practice facilities at the MasterCard Centre, but I don't see it happening. Borders an unnecessary hassle. |

I agree. Leafs traded Kessel and Phaneuf to change the image of the team not because they were bad players. |

These riots play perfectly into Trump's re-election strategy.
White militias were peaceful.
Blacks are criminals, and the Democrats refuse to condemn them when they commit crimes.
"Only Trump can protect us!"
I can't understand how you can't get a single franking Democrat to condemn looting.
That franking party never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity. |

Earliest date that training camps can open just pushed back to July 10. PA has said they need 3 weeks of training. How many games per day etc will obviously be worked out with networks and will likely depend on what other sports are being televised. They’ll want to squeeze every penny they can out of this. |

I spoke with a friend who works for the NHL.
The league is OK with delaying next season until Jan 1, 2021.
So there isn't as much urgency as we might think.

Strategy might work if his base equaled Democrat’s base. Black vote sitting at home killed Hilary. Do you think any blacks are fretting over Biden’s “if you vote for Trump you ain’t black” quip right now.
If these riots in urban cores scare suburban mom’s who are now moving away from Trump and towards Biden, maybe this helps. We’ll see but I think the prevailing view is that people are sick of the bullpoop and that they equate the bullpoop with Trump. Nobody is more normal than Biden. |

The "culture" being "I'm a very good player and I'm not wasting my career playing for this poop hole team". A lot of players have that attitude when they are playing on a lottery team. Kopitar and Doughty wouldn't be any different. Notice how Kessel won two Cups as soon as he left? If the Leafs, the media and/or the fans hadn't pushed him out, he would have asked for it himself because every elite level player would rather be on a contender than a lottery team. - JohnFergusonJr
Kessel is a very good player. He cannot be the best player on your team, though. He went into Pittsburgh where all he had to do was put up points and score on the PP, and did an amazing job at it. Sid and Geno are the heavy lifters on that team.
The Leafs tore down but didn't go scorched earth like Edmonton and Buffalo did. Their two best players were gone, but we still had guys like Kadri, Bozak, JVR, Reilly, and Gardiner. "Add a vet later" is easier said than done, because what vet wants to join a hot mess unless you overpay them? You end up with a Buffalo situation where you're overpaying guys like Okposo and Skinner because you're so devoid of other talent that there is nobody else. |

Yeah, Mirtle was reporting that as well. I wasn’t suggesting urgency only that there’s no way if guessing timing yet.
I also wonder if they hope later start increase chances of there being fans in stands. |

I don’t buy that people are sitting in their suburban homes terrified of “black hordes” descending on them. We can laugh at what goes on down there in amazement but the prevailing view has to be make this craziness stop and let’s get rid of the person who seems to be responsible for it. |
