He said they should be trained to not use a gun, and that they should be able to disarm a criminal without one. Like dd said earlier, he's suggesting police be trained to bring a knife to a gun fight. If that's the standard, and the public knows it, that will absolutely lead to an increase in violent crime because the criminal knows the system has basically tied the police's hands. - buffalofan19
I said they should be able to disarm a person without a gun I never said they shouldn't have a gun |

NYC, this is what happens when you just continuously vote democrat with no open mind to what is good for the city. De Blasio sees a video of an NYPD unholstering his gun and says the cop should hand in his gun and badge and that it was completely unacceptable. Now the full video shows his chief getting smoked by a brick in the back of the head right next to him. The combination of Cuomo and De Blasio is downright dangerous. These left wing mayors are honestly loving what is happening right now it’s sick. |

This started with Gerbe implying the cops should be better trained and they won't need guns. Something like if they were better trained they could disarm a guy armed with a knife w/out shooting him. You kinda jumped in to reply about giant leaps w/out being aware of that. - Ratsreign
The original part i responded to was Gerbe talking about how police should be taught to maim & not kill
You & 19 are taking it all the way back to the disarming criminals post by him
That is NOT what i posted on

Dude, really?
He said the part that no one is talking about is that if people protested all day and went home at night the problem (looting, burning) would stop.

If a criminal has a gun, and has even the average ability to use it, and he knows a policeman is mandated to try to disarm me without one first, the policeman is at a huge disadvantage and the criminal knows it. It lessens the threat. Less of a threat equals more crime.

The police should have training that a normal person should not know ..
Honesty they should have all x combat people for Criminals and keep tickets and that stuff for the regular cops |

So much i disagree with above,

I think u kind of brushed off the 2nd part of my post from before
Your basic answer seemed to be,
“Meh, human nature”
Internal affairs is responsible for investigation these 5% of questionable instances correct?
Are they not cops, or are they appointed?
And a lot of ppl wanna know why the 3 who watched haven’t been charged with anything...
any ideas why?
Are they not culpable as well? - jdfitz77
No, Internal Affairs does not determine the investigation in a shooting. The District Attorney does (political position) Keep voting democrat though in these big cities. You reap what you sow

Shooting to maim sounds great in theory, but it most likely will get you killed. Unless every cop has enough training to reach Annie Oakley type sharp shooting skills. You shoot to put an end to the threat as quickly as possible, not necessarily to kill. |

They do.
But.......
The average person can get the same training by taking martial arts training, boxing, self defense courses, and/or learning it through the streets.
I have no formal training. Just an upbringing where my dad and I rough housed daily. And he beat the snot out of me to toughen me up(worked wonders when kids tried to bully me about my handicapped sister).
A cop pal and I got into a pissing match where I said I could get the better of him with his training and all. He’s 6-3 and jacked, I am not.
He lost.
Any normal person can do these things. |

You aim center mass.....
Plain and simple.
That is how anyone with any gun knowledge is taught.
Aim small, miss small. |

The gun conversation is interesting seeing as how this whole round of protests revolves around a guy that was suffocated or choked to death, depending on which account you believe, not that one is any better than the other.
That being said, I find the narrative that people are wrong for focusing on a supposedly "few" bad protesters taking things out of control ironic, considering the type of police behavior they are protesting is probably at an even lower rate.
However, I do wonder what the overlap is between the looter that would go to town in a situation like this, and the looter that would riot the night a major city's NBA/NHL/NFL/MLB team won or lost its championship. My guess is you might often find the same person at both. |

More training would increase violent crime?
Explain
- jdfitz77
He's suggesting that police not have the threat of lethal force due to "more training". Any criminal with an IQ above 40 is going to know he's less at risk. They will get bolder.

That’s a hefty leap
-jdfitz77
Don’t go trying to walk it back now
You know FULL WELL that what i was talking about was the use of lethal force
That’s evidenced by your reply in bold
I call bullsh!t
It makes zero sense that saying more training to not use lethal force will result in more violent crime
Fattony already said that’s how they’re being trained |
