You're trained to shoot center mass, which gives you the best chance to stop the threat. Like in every profession, not everybody is elite at doing every aspect of their jobs. Shooting a gun in a tense situation is not easy. Nobody in their right mind would try shooting at people's moving legs and feet. This isn't the fair. The only prize you get for not doing your job properly is hurt or dead.

NYC, this is what happens when you just continuously vote democrat with no open mind to what is good for the city. De Blasio sees a video of an NYPD unholstering his gun and says the cop should hand in his gun and badge and that it was completely unacceptable. Now the full video shows his chief getting smoked by a brick in the back of the head right next to him. The combination of Cuomo and De Blasio is downright dangerous. These left wing mayors are honestly loving what is happening right now it’s sick.

So much ignorance in this thread. Cops make 30-50 grand to start and you want them trained as ninjas? They do train in firearms and defensive tactics their whole career. Just because Biden and some of y'all don't think a knife is a weapon doesn't mean it isn't. You shoot to stop the threat. Guy goes down, stop shooting. He drops his weapon, stop shooting. We're trained in this so much that it becomes muscle memory. I would love to see one of you try shooting the moving leg of someone running at you to kill you. It's ridiculous to even consider. I have been in law enforcement for 23 years and am sickened by what happened to George Floyd. I'm sickened that some people in society STILL judge others by the color of their skin. I am also sickened that those who are CHOOSING to break curfews and laws are RUINING the chance to make positive, long lasting change. I am sickened that my brothers and sisters in law enforcement are being victimized daily. Nearly everyone came together to condemn what happened only to have the radicals attempt to divide again. Black lives DO matter. So do law enforcement officers lives. Nearly all of which agree that these instances should NEVER be happening. Interestingly enough I am also President of my union. What I CAN tell you is that my job in the union is make sure my Officers are treated fairly. Nothing more and nothing less. If someone gets terminated, it goes before an INDEPENDENT ARBITRATOR of which there are many, mutually agreed upon by the municipality and the departments. It is NOT the union collaborating with the departments. These entities do not often see eye to eye.
I'm just saying is that we should all just try to be good, respectful human beings to each other and the rest would take care if itself.

Did I say more training will increase violent crime? I meant it's human nature that criminals who knew cops were unarmed, or even greatly restricted on when they could use their guns, would become bolder. Again this all went back to Gerbe's comment, to which it was replied that criminals would become bolder if cops were less armed.

Lets put it this way. (Don't take this as a threat jr, just illustrating a point).

Train for the next 5 years, every day, all day. Do anything that you feel you need to do to prepare. Heck with only 21 week training, you get 260 weeks.

After your training, come to my house. I'll be armed with a simple shotgun, nothing fancy, nothing high capacity, nothing illegal.

You will show me, through your rigorous training, how to disarm me before I shoot you. Fair?
