Mediocre and overpaid. Fits the bill. - TheSabresTaco
Who else you got?
Are you willing to trade Reinhart in a package for somebody like Sean Monahan, who himself as warts in his game?
The quote unquote ideal targets, like Cirelli, Point, or even under the radar guys like Roope Hintz, are almost certainly not happening without a huge overpayment. |

Absolutely should have taken a forward in that spot - Fattony1187
if you have eichel, reinhart skinner, olofsson
and you believe in casey and cozens, I can see the pick

They were already heavy in defensemen, both prospects and in the NHL.
There was little reason to take a defenseman with that pick when they need forward prospects that can score so badly, especially when they took a mediocre defenseman. |

Detroit has a some Centers coming up in there system that will be ready soon, plus depending on how the draft falls. I would see what it would take to get Larkin, I know it is a big if, but 2 picks in the top 10 could really speed up there rebuild |

2020 1st, 2021 1st, Cozens, C prospect |

with the D, risto, mccabe, montour, miller
none of them are long term solutions though
eichel already locked up long term
skinner locked up long term
control olofsson and reinhart
and cozens and casey were top 10 picks
if you believe in casey and cozens, it made sense to pick a d man if your scouting department had him above the guys up front
I never said I agreed with it, but I see the logic

Hasek handcuffed the Sabres, by giving them a very short list of teams he would report too.
Wasn't he 36 years old when he was traded to detroit?
36 is not a players prime kiddo.
Peak years are 27-32 years old |

If I were GM back then and Hasek tried forcing a trade or retire, here's what I would have said ;
"Okay thanks for your service, Dom, and enjoy your retirement. If you decide you want to play again, we own your rites and we'll be calling the shots, not you".
Might as well have done that, since we got jack-sh!t for him back then. |

I think adam Henrique is the answer at this point in time...$5.825M for the next four years might be high for the ducks as they're said to have been under an internal cap for at least a little while...even if there's a compliance buyout this off season, i'm not so sure the ducks would go for that as it's dead money...
Henrique's salary is a bit high and at 30 he ain't a spring chicken, however there's a consistency to his game while averaging somewhere around 20-22 goals/season and around 45 points...he's got playoff experience all the way to the Cup Finals in where he scored to goals against the Kings as a rookie in 2011...
Botts could wait for a potential buyout, or he could take the bull by the horns and, if the ducks really want to get out from under Henrique's salary, offer them a young player or two...mitts might be enticing for Anaheim in this scenario...
too much?...too little?...who knows...and Henrique has a modified NTC...would buffalo be on the 10-team no-trade list for the Brantford, Ontario native?...my bet is no and that he'd see it as a good opportunity - Michael Pachla
I've liked henrique as a 2c. 4 years beings him to 34ish.
If hes cut, absolutely sign him
If he waives his no trade, mitts seems a bit much, being that hes a cap dump kinda.
Maybe the rights to Larsson?. Who I actually like, but we would need to make room for a new center? |

Why would they need to make room for a center if they trade for Henrique?
Eichel, Henrique, Larsson, someone...?
I would not be relying on Cozens to be a center at least for next year. |

It's a ton to give up, Cozens would be the only thing holding a deal to me up, and Larkin is only what 23 I believe and a proven C, with a 6 mill cap hit for 3 more years. |

Get ready for Eichel - Johansson - Kahun - Larsson down the middle next year...
https://twitter.com/CMDeD.../1266394326554337286?s=19
Krueger mentioned the idea of Kahun playing center again
https://twitter.com/CMDeD.../1266398675540029440?s=19
My biggest fear for the Sabres is them walking into next season with a center spine of Eichel-Kahun/Johansson-Cozens-Lazar/Asplund
Krueger mentioning the idea of Kahun playing center again brought up that fear. - kingcong39
Might as well put next years draft lottery on your calendar if that's the best we can do.

He turns 24 in July.
I am not even sure the 2020 1st, 2021 1st, and Cozens would be enough to get Larkin, especially with the two teams playing in the same division. |

I understand and you are probably right, but he would be one of my targets. Jack and Dahlin are the only one's I wouldn’t give up. He would be a true 2C that could give you 70 to 80 pts a year with Skinner. It's a dream scenario but I would make that call. |

SSSS says the Sabres are telling him he’s top 4 next year.
this kind of makes sense as I was told there was promises made when he first signed here - homiedclown
I’m fine with sending McCabe out or in a package for whatever. I’m still in the change for change sake. Send some of the Sabre lifers out and infuse new blood and attitude into this underperforming group of SLACKERS!
Dahlin - joker
Pilut - monte
? ? ? - Miller
I am fine with that grouping next season. That second pair may lack A physical Presence. So you may have to shift around a little or add in free agency. I’m not ready to slot Borgen in yet. He his call up 1 this year though. |
