I believe the most 'realistic' of the big moves as far as acquiring a center are concerned, would be Sean Monahan from the Flames. - kingcong39
He wouldn't be a bad choice, pretty dangerous having him and Skinner defensively. |

Looks like Beane set himself up nicely salary cap wise next year with about 57 mill, could get both extensions done with Milano and White and still have about 25 mill to add. |

I would think you would have to keep Allen in mind also. |

I think he keyed on Edmunds and Allen for the following year with the 2 and 3 year deals he signed players to last year and this off-season. I have to look but projected after next year I think it was 62 mill |

Gotta throw Dawkins on that list to if they plan on keeping him, he's a FA next year too. |

we will find out. I just laid out $1000 on the bills having a better record than the vikings this year with a guy I know out here. if I lose that bet I think a QB in the first round is firmly in order next year. |

That doesn't come close for Hintz. Granted, the new coaching staff had some head scratching usage for him, but if they move him i assume it's for someone that can step in right away. - Michael Ghofrani
I would normally agree with you, but the start of the second sentence is important to note.
Do they even know or understand what they have with him?
I'm not entirely sure they do. |

That's why I would advocate for signing Craig Smith to play RW on that line, as they will definitely need some defensive help, even though Skinner isn't that bad defensively. |

That's fair, which is why I thought he could be a good value add, but the problem the sabres don't have many(any) NHLers they could move that would entice the Stars and still be considered good value.
Most of the teams valuable trade assets are at the end of both extremes. It's either NHLers they probably wont get full value for, or prospects/picks like Cozens or this years pick.

Are they short at forward, at defense, neither, both?
Also, do they believe they are a real cup contender next year?
The second question is probably what really matters.
Looking at their roster, they do look like they could use help at forward, but their centers aren't great? They would only have Seguin and Faksa if they deal Hintz.
That's the crux of the issue.
Would you deal Cozens for Hintz? I think I know the answer to that question. |

When I wrote my piece on acquiring hintz I talked to a stars writer and put everything on the table to see where the interest was.
I don't think cozens would do it, they know for better or worse their window is now and they're pretty well set on the blue line.
My guess is, if the Sabres had say a 2nd line RW, they might bite, because in their eyes it could be an upgrade if they're unclear on what to do with Hintz. But the Sabres value at forward is basically Eichel and Reinhart. |

I like Hintz, but he just hasn't produced enough for me to trade Reinhart for him.
I'd want more than Hintz for Reinhart. |

TC before he forgot where he was was very talented at dishing the puck.. we need a kotalik on this team though, not a TC - SabresFaninIndiana

It'd be a medium to high risk move for sure. But his XG numbers in a bad situation are encouraging.
If he gets the opportunity with the cuffs off he could do some serious damage, and probably cost less long term. |

I'm interested, but that would be a risky move, and if I'm the team taking the risk, I'd ask for more.
What's the bad situation? |

for sure, but Im of the opinion that they're no longer in a position to be able to do that. |

Didn't Mitts have a better XG at 20 than Hintz did at 21 and 22? |

No, Hintz has always been above average in that regard
Mittelstadt's best was mediocre for the first 6 games of his career. |

I see the following regarding the past 2 seasons:
XGF - Hintz has better numbers both seasons over Mittelstadt
XGA - Ditto the above
XG - Ditto the above
Casey has worse numbers then Hintz in all the following criteria:
GF/60, xGF/60, CF/60, xGA/60, CA/60 |

I’m really not worried about the $1K. I just want a title. |
