Yes, they receive many hours of extra training to become ERT members, and i'm sure extra pay. They resigned these positions and remain members of the Buffalo Police Dept

Tensions are at a ridiculous level. Cops are being targeted and killed. They are on high alert. Was the outcome of this incident extremely unfortunate, absolutely, but nobody has an F’n clue what can happen with a 16 year old, 75 year old, male or female right now. The news has already made him out to be a “peaceful protester and human rights activist”, yet he posted F the Police on his Twitter. I actually wish the police would take the weekend off. Better yet relocate them out to the suburbs and let downtown have their nonviolent community task force. I will gladly take them out here.

You twisted it a little bit there. He didn't say it due to any agenda, it's was just spoken out of frustration with no real meaning behind it.
