If you think the number of adds required is too much to be done in a short enough timeframe to take advantage of Eichel's prime (and dahlin's near prime) then you probably want to blow it up.
- Michael Ghofrani

Jack has six years (all prime years) left on his contract. Dahlin should be here for nine years.

Interested to know who's ready to blow it up.

Both, we need better goaltending next year and this year would have helped, over his 13 Nov. to Jan starts he went 0-8-5, that's not good enough for a backup.
- Buff36

No problem. I guess if you want to blame one guy it’s hard to argue that the rest may have had something to do with that stretch.
I give up. Get rid of him.

Necessities for a championship caliber organization:

Franchise center ☑️
Franchise defenseman ☑️
Goal scoring winger ☑️
#2 defenseman ☑️? (that's a huge debate as to whether we have him or not)

Legit, #2 center.
Quality depth; players who play above their expectations.
Toughness, and not in the "fighting" sort of way (huge hole on this team)

Imo, these holes are not justification for blowing it up. They can be filled. Do we have the right GM to fill them?

Depends on your definition of prime. I dont know who wants to, but if you believe that you can't build a winner around eichel, you're better off tearing it down.

I think jack will be putting up prime numbers, and continue to be a prime player, well into his present contract if not completely throughout.

I would, we need better. Not blaming 1 person there's enough to go around.

i didn't get their contact info, but these fans exist, even if they are in the minority (twitter, here etc.)

If there are too many needs to take advantage of a window in eichel's prime, i can see the logic behind that.

Malkin was on pace to have his best season at 32.

We have wasted one year of Eichel and it was this most current season.

Jack has the physical tools and speed to be elite into his early 30’s like Malkin.

Agreed, but I think a few who can play that role can/will rub off on others.

He certainly could, he could also have just had his best season ever. Im not definite on either just that I understand why some fans might believe the current build to be unsalvageable.

Agreed.

Those that are worried that Eichel is suddenly going to drop off a cliff at age 27 or something need to look at other superstars' careers.

That being said, every year that passes is one less opportunity.

It's not about him falling off a cliff, you're just not getting him at his absolute best anymore.

Do you need him at his absolute best to win? Well I guess that sorta depends on the team around him doesn't it? But you maximize your chances of winning by putting an elite team around him during his early to mid 20s, because thats probably him at his absolute best.

I won’t argue that. It’s very possible that this may be one of, if not the best, seasons he will ever have. It’s too early to tell.

However he has many elite years left I have no doubt about that.

It sounds like you're talking about "they"

Y'know like "they say ..."

I have seen a few posts here - last season, not this one - saying Jack should be traded because he is lazy and doesn't back check. I have seen a few posts here saying Jack should be traded because he is unhappy and we should let him move on before he is career is ruined.

I haven't seen anyone say it is impossible to build a team around him and that we should go back to tank AGAIN. not one.

In this context, im referring to folks on twitter, who when the discussion of cirelli for 7th overall was brought up, pointed out that if adding cirelli to this team doesn't move the needle (as some other fans suggested) then there probably aren't any combination of moves that get that done in the current build and should explore tearing it down.

Patrick Kane had his highest point and second highest goal season last year at 30 years old

Ovi had the same GPG clip this season at 34 years as his best years
