Necessities for a championship caliber organization:

Franchise center ☑️
Franchise defenseman ☑️
Goal scoring winger ☑️
#2 defenseman ☑️? (that's a huge debate as to whether we have him or not)

Legit, #2 center.
Quality depth; players who play above their expectations.
Toughness, and not in the "fighting" sort of way (huge hole on this team)

Imo, these holes are not justification for blowing it up. They can be filled. Do we have the right GM to fill them?

I guess what I'm suggesting is that you don't use Twitter and the stupid crap posted there as a straw man to create an argument here.

We have enough of our own dummies posting idiotic stuff about mayonnaise based salads and olives.

Im not creating an argument, Michael asked who would want to blow it up. I referenced those fans on twitter and also added why I think they may want that. I dont agree, but I understand why they may feel that way.

Ben Shelley mentioned in his comments that he thinks Zegras' rise may further push Henrique out the door and that a swap for Ristolainen would help them on their right side.

Henrique/Ristolainen, would you do it?

No. Henrique is pretty close to a cap dump at this point.

Could you not say the same of Ristolainen?

(semi joking)

Henriques numbers (advanced or otherwise) were pretty solid. Does damage at 5v5 and would be a massive upgrade all at the cost of a player whose on ice results are almost always in the negatives.

The cost is taking on those extra years, but if they get a compliance buyout it might work for them. It wouldn't be my first choice, but not my last for addressing 2C.

Risto's real trade value is a mystery, for sure.

I think you regret Henrique in a year or 2. Feels like a deal you inevitably lose.

Do you lose the deal in year 2 when Ristolainen is asking for $42M for the next 6 years?

From what I gather, you either gain short term/lose long term or vice versa on Risto if you want any real value.

You're right about Henriques contract, but if it propels you to the playoffs without costing 1sts or cozens etc. its a win short term, especially since if they're right about cozens, they'll only need henrique to be the 2C for a year or so.

Otherwise you're looking at a trade for a late 1st. Helps you long term sure, but doesnt really address any of the needs right now.

Sure, even letting Risto walk for nothing will be better than having Henrique in 3 years. Imagine being stuck with Okposo and Henrique on your 4th line for that $.

Henrique is that bad now that he's nothing more than a cap dump?

That doesn't seem to be the case according to Ducks fans and his numbers the past 2 years.

If I had my preference, I'd rather trade Ristolainen for someone like Andrew Copp.

I mean, I wouldn't make the trade until after all these changes were introduced by the league.

I know a report came out saying owners are against it, but it sounds like they still want to work something out to offset what happens with the cap.

I’d love that. The Jets have a lack of depth down the middle as it is though so I wouldn’t think he’d be the first one to move there.

Not quite the way I'd word it. At that age, $, and term, it's not a good contract. They'd be thrilled to move him imo.

Malkin was on pace to have his best season at 32.

We have wasted one year of Eichel and it was this most current season.

Jack has the physical tools and speed to be elite into his early 30’s like Malkin.

- Pegullaville

While I do Agee Jack can play at a high level into his mid 30’s.

Malkin was on pace for 110 points which is 3 points shy of his best season and he’s also 33 (just shy of 34).

That said, he was on pace for his best season since he was 25 (109 pts).

Malkin’s issue is and always has been injuries. He has missed a lot of time.

Not unless they’re adding.

Unfortunately and to the dismay of some here, Risto has the higher value(by a wide margin). Age, ceiling, position, contract......
