It would if the goaltender wasn't good and you could find a better goaltender. Im not saying his leadership or good leadership in general isn't important, but it shouldn't come at the cost of below average results.

If I were the GM of this team I would sign Ullmark to a 1 yr deal as the number one and see if he’s up to the challenge. I would leave Hutton as the backup to give me 30 to 35 games. Even if he is as bad as this year it’s still 30 points which is good for a backup. That leaves Ullmark with 47 games to get 65 points.
This is achievable with the team as it stands but add 2 or 3 good prospects from within, one or two UFA‘s and its a done deal.
It is imperative to add secondary goal scoring over anything else. As for goaltending if I thought it necessary to make a plunge I’d gas Ullmark and sign Holtby. I’d prefer to leave it the same as long as Ullmark’s asking price and term are reasonable.

I’d love that. The Jets have a lack of depth down the middle as it is though so I wouldn’t think he’d be the first one to move there.

Ristolainen is going to want and receive a strong pay day when his contract is up in 2 years.

Unless the team trading for him plans on either not extending him and just using him the next 2 years, or is good with the next year and a half of usage and then trading him at the trade deadline, the contract length to fully consider for Ristolainen is much longer than Henrique's contract.

While I do Agee Jack can play at a high level into his mid 30’s.


Malkin was on pace for 110 points which is 3 points shy of his best season and he’s also 33 (just shy of 34).

That said, he was on pace for his best season since he was 25 (109 pts).

Malkin’s issue is and always has been injuries. He has missed a lot of time.
