That is precisely my point, which is many of those mothers are not lazy, but they are still technically working poor, as all their work is barely enough to make proper food, clothing, and shelter available for their kids.

where do they work?

changing the tv channel from springer to maury to wendy williams does not count as a job while stuffing their face

Tony, why are police officers being ordered to stand down? They watch rioters light their vehicles on fire in Philly. This is a coup by the dems. Cover and economic downturn wasn’t enough to not get Trump re-elected. They want absolute chaos. Good citizens of Philly starting to guard stores from Da Cashmans, I mean scum of the world.
- Hatboro_Swords

They are being asked to stand down because the last thing that is needed is a police officer killing someone right now.

Talk about a powder keg

If anyone truly wanted to have an open discussion with a police officer, our tactics, why we do stuff, grievances they had, and aren’t sure why things happened, I would be more then willing to meet you out for a coffee (on me) and discuss those issues with you.

Do not be fooled by the media. We are human just like you. Like food, beer, the Sabres and hate a Jason Botterill just like you

they were too lazy to get a degree in the first place

they were too lazy to get a job

they had a kid

they were too lazy to avoid having more kids

they get paid

what am I missing?

- homiedclown

You are missing a lot, clearly.

My mother was the definition of working poor.

She worked 2 jobs, and a lot of others, and barely made enough to support my brother and I, let alone herself.

She sometimes went an entire day without eating so we wouldn't miss a meal. She weighed under 90 pounds at one point due to that.

We had the power turned off for a day or two for months straight, due to the timing of her checks and when the bills were due.

She busted her ass and we were still poor, all because my father ran off and took what little savings they had with him, while not paying all the bills that were due at the time with the money they earned together.

There's more of that going on than you are considering.

If you are a single mother with two kids who has to provide everything due to a dead beat father, it takes a lot of income to not be essentially working poor.

All the women I know that are going through that are not barely putting food on the table. They are doing a bang up job and their kids are involved and able to play all the sports they want. Including hockey.

It comes down to determination.

Unfortunately many of the community you are talking about yes, they may be working multiple jobs. Those jobs pay just enough so they can still get their free money.

And before anyone wants to say oh you’re being a racist.

I was a bill collector for 10 years collecting on NFG bills. The people I saw abusing the system was all ethnic groups. If I had to put a number on it, I’d say the Caucasian to African ratio was about even.

Thanks for what you do.

Sent a mass text out to my cop buddies yesterday just saying stay safe!

You do the same.

My mother was a hair dresser and worked as a processor.

I was 6 and my brother was just over a year old.

She did all she could. It was an impossible situation.

She too did a bang up job, but we had to play baseball in a league that paid for everything by selling candy bars.

We couldn't afford much more than the most reasonably priced clothing etc.

I am white. It happens to more than just ethnic communities sir.

I thank you for being there for us in order to protect everyone. I CANNOT imagine the fear(?) that you experience every day when you do not know when and where something will happen. I strongly believe that you wake up every day to protect and serve and not to cause harm.

I have been promoting an idea that our societal infrastructure is broken. We need everyone to dig in and change society. I do not have the answers but I am trying to help.

Our media portrays everything in a black and white perspective. Our total media supports and expands all their self-serving narratives as they see fit. They are not a service. They are a business. Business is better when there is doom and gloom report.

Looting and rioting - BAD. Do not care why you are doing it.
Civil disobedience - GOOD.

BAD people should be removed. Regardless of job, race, religion.

that is one out of 100 trying to make it on their own

those are the true working class people

under no circumstance do I lump them with the other 99.9 percent who are lazy

I mean to get unemployment, which you pay into

you have to provide places you apply each week to get job while you are getting that money

you get what 3 times more on welfare, and never have to look for a job

at what point, do we stop defending criminals?

Do you consider the officers that watched the gentleman get killed by the other office kneeling on his neck as bad officers?

I ask as I am not sure they are bad officers, as much as officers who made a bad decision of inaction when they could have done something to stop the end result.

- kingcong39

They made a bad decision.

Unfortunately that bad decision had severe consequences.

They should be held accountable.

Per the police chief, they will be.

I totally agree, but it's too easy, and perhaps inaccurate, to simply categorize them as bad officers.

People make bad decisions, and bad people make them consistently.

You think it is only one of out 100 that are working that hard on their own without asking for assistance from the government?

99 out of 100 are lazy?

Again, this issue, like so very many others, involves a great deal of nuance.

It is very easy to simply make overarching statements without looking into all the nuance to truly understand all that is going on.

I don’t consider them bad cops at the moment. Haven’t heard all the facts.

The asshead that killed him is a bad cop. 12 past violations. He shouldn’t have been a cop.
