How? You guys should be able to handle a person with a knife you are trained to take out terrorist
You should be able to shoot someone so they are disarmed or fight some one

That's not how guns work.

Too many people misunderstand guns as instant kill machines because movies and TV show a bad guy getting shot anywhere centermass is immediately out of the fight. Unless of course it's the hero in which case they just shrug it off, which in a fight or flight situation with adrenaline pumping is more likely to be closer to the truth unless you get super lucky(or unlucky depending on who's doing the shooting) and get a heart shot or hit the spinal cord. And conversely getting shot in the arm or leg is fine, a flesh wound, really. Never mind the major blood vessels, bones, or the super high chance of life threatening infection.

Need evidence? Just read the citation for Roy Benavidez's Medal of Honor. Here's a more in depth accounting of what happened.

Benavidez spent almost a year in hospitals to recover from his injuries. He had seven major gunshot wounds, twenty-eight shrapnel holes and both arms had been slashed by a bayonet. Benavidez had shrapnel in his head, scalp, shoulder, buttocks, feet, and legs. His right lung was destroyed. He had injuries to his mouth and back of his head from being clubbed with a rifle butt. One of the AK-47 bullets had entered his back exiting just beneath his heart.

Even with all those wounds he was able to fight on until he got everyone else that was alive onto the helicopter.

that is one out of 100 trying to make it on their own

those are the true working class people

under no circumstance do I lump them with the other 99.9 percent who are lazy

I mean to get unemployment, which you pay into

you have to provide places you apply each week to get job while you are getting that money

you get what 3 times more on welfare, and never have to look for a job

- homiedclown

100% false. Every able bodied adult in NYS has to go through Work Experience Program. Many of which include working actual jobs.

When you apply for or receive Public Assistance, unless the Department of Social Services (DSS) says that you are exempt (not able to work), you must participate in work activities as assigned. Work activities will sometimes include educational activities.

...

If you do a work experience program, the number of hours you must work is figured by dividing the total amount of your public assistance and food stamp grants by the minimum wage.

They even make you work up to the last 30 days of pregnancy. The only way for an able bodied adult to be exempt is if you're caring for a disabled family member and you're the only one able to do it, or caring for a child under 3 months old, it can, under some circumstances be extended up to 12 months, but there is a lifetime maximum of 12 months, so it's possible to blow the entire exemption on one kid.

You’ve never been in a fight where a knife is involved.

It it’s that easy.

Because it isn’t as easy as that.

Same as someone breaking a bottle and coming at you.

Also you ever hear the phrase don’t bring a knife to a gun fight?

You think they're all black belts in Jiu Jitsu or something? Most of them don't get anywhere near the training you think they do.

If I was a cop I would make sure I know how to disarm a person with a knife to save their life

Because they took a civil service exam(if former military they get extra points on the exam) and scored high enough on it.

Cops are usually hired with no training(some are ex military)and go to the academy.

Do you know how long it takes to get a black belt?.......YEARS!!

They aren’t in the academy that long to get a black belt.

It isn’t like the movies. They aren’t super cops.

Seriously dude get your head out of your ass.

I can’t believe the video of police officers getting ran over. It is nuts. Right before it happens. Some kid gets taken out at the intersection by police for doing something. . I can’t figure out what is happening, but it almost looked like he was marking the location. (frank)ing chaos

Edit: Also, kid taking video had an incredible vantage point. Speaking some weird ass language. Not something I would’ve expected.

No matter what's going on Jeff Bezos is making money:

"Amazon shoppers are stocking up on pepper spray and Black Lives Matter merchandise as protests continue to erupt nationwide, according to sales rankings on its web site.

The e-commerce site lists self-defense items, educational books on racial justice and Black Lives Matter t-shirts as top-selling items across several categories of its Best Sellers page."

Maybe this is a point that needs to be made.

They need more training.

If they aren’t confident enough to do their jobs and defend themselves without killing unarmed people than it’s an issue

The criminals have guns and lots of them.

Let’s throw people out there with pepper spray and a baton to stop the criminals.

Sounds like a great plan.

No doubt about that. It comes down to money mainly. There just isn't enough of it.

Most of the training needs to be managing the adrenaline dump, recognize that a struggling person isn't always resisting, but literally fighting for their life and they have little to no control over what they're doing, and not allowing people who are apt to losing control be police officers in the first place.

It's an incredibly difficult job with a poopload of lose-lose situations, but we need to do a better job of picking suitable candidates, because far too many people, of all colors, die or are maimed at the hands of police that don't need to be. All that needed to happen last Monday was for the guy on Floyd's neck to listen to his fellow officer and roll him on his side(at least that's what was in the official report from the officers on the scene), but he was too keyed up to hear anything.
