No doubt about that. It comes down to money mainly. There just isn't enough of it.

Most of the training needs to be managing the adrenaline dump, recognize that a struggling person isn't always resisting, but literally fighting for their life and they have little to no control over what they're doing, and not allowing people who are apt to losing control be police officers in the first place.

It's an incredibly difficult job with a poopload of lose-lose situations, but we need to do a better job of picking suitable candidates, because far too many people, of all colors, die or are maimed at the hands of police that don't need to be. All that needed to happen last Monday was for the guy on Floyd's neck to listen to his fellow officer and roll him on his side(at least that's what was in the official report from the officers on the scene), but he was too keyed up to hear anything.

I have family in high ranks of the BPD. I’m an obvious supporter of law enforcement

One is a Captain in BPD other a lieutenant.

Both were also overseas in Iraq and have a ton of combat training.

They’ve been cops for over a decade. 0 incidents. And one of them has been in a ton of situations

He tackled a guy who had a gun running from him. Could’ve just shot and killed him and got away with it

Yes I understand its obviously hard but if you're trained how can you not disarm a person??
- gerbe75pts

Dude just stop. I know you think the world should all be peace and love, but it just isn't and never will be. Do cops need better recruits and training? Sure. Better leadership and self governing? Absolutely. But if you think you wouldn't do anything you could to save your a$$ if you felt your life was in danger from someone coming at you with a deadly weapon you're nuts. The amount of restraint police officers show in the vast majority of cases is unbelievable.

Remember that guy you witnessed getting assaulted. I'm betting you didn't want to get hurt right? You wouldn't even call the cops to save his a$$ cuz you were too concerned with your own. So just stop it with the self righteous nonsense.

I don't get this bullpoop they're supposed to protect us if they can't do that with out a gun what is the point.

Am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous

Firefighters get more training then wtf

- gerbe75pts

I’ll give you a gun and let’s have 3 guys come at you with knives and pipes. You would piss your pants and put your hands up. Gun owners know that when you draw your gun you better be ready to use it, and you don’t god damn use it to wound someone in the leg, this isn’t the movies. Are there below standard cops, of course, what profession doesn’t have this population, it’s impossible to have a perfect workforce. They protect the law, and now you want their motto to be don’t worry we will never draw on you and will only engage in hand to hand combat, that’s extremely dangerous. The arrogance by some is alarming. It’s completely comical how over the last 3 months it has been do this and do that to save lives, but when a cop takes out a threat who was not complying and could have harmed innocent civilians it’s an outrage. And my last sentence does not pertain to the Floyd situation, that cop will go through our justice system and pay the price.

The criminals have guns and lots of them.

Let’s throw people out there with pepper spray and a baton to stop the criminals.

Sounds like a great plan.

Just wanna say to all you out-of-towners that I ate a Jims Steakout "stinger" sub last night and it was awesome. Jealous ? What foods do you guys miss the most, now that you've moved out of Buffalo ? I know a guy who moved to Portland and all he talks about is how he misses Wegmans, Jims Steakout, Charlie the Butcher, Mighty Taco, easy driving, etc ...

I am curious - what do you do that you are all high and mighty about others? What I can ascertain is you live off your parents, travel when it suits you, are unable to put coherent, multi-sentence posts together and are critical of things you know nothing about.

What do you do that gave you this all knowing, all seeing knowledge. I know you are not the 3ER.

I would not even suggest that you read more, post less. I suggest you just think some.

No matter what's going on Jeff Bezos is making money:

"Amazon shoppers are stocking up on pepper spray and Black Lives Matter merchandise as protests continue to erupt nationwide, according to sales rankings on its web site.

The e-commerce site lists self-defense items, educational books on racial justice and Black Lives Matter t-shirts as top-selling items across several categories of its Best Sellers page."

The tech industry spear headed the recovery of the markets. We are now seeing some small consolidation in the tech industry however it’s Due to sector rotation fuelling more volume in the healthcare and financial sectors (usually a good sign in maintaining a bull market)

I’m not a perma bear by any sense of the imagination, so I’m happy to see the markets go up. But I believe free markets are a thing of the past along with price discovery.

Perhaps it’s just me also but I do find it highly convenient that Governments world wide are opening up the balancing sheets and piling on the debt to bail out the corporations and the richest 1% continue to get richer.

Maybe this is a point that needs to be made.

They need more training.

If they aren’t confident enough to do their jobs and defend themselves without killing unarmed people than it’s an issue

- sbroads24

Do you know how rare that is that an unarmed person is unjustifiably killed. It is so rare that it is an anomaly. It is not widespread and you are fooled by the media if you think it is

If I were the GM of this team I would sign Ullmark to a 1 yr deal as the number one and see if he’s up to the challenge. I would leave Hutton as the backup to give me 30 to 35 games. Even if he is as bad as this year it’s still 30 points which is good for a backup. That leaves Ullmark with 47 games to get 65 points.
This is achievable with the team as it stands but add 2 or 3 good prospects from within, one or two UFA‘s and its a done deal.
It is imperative to add secondary goal scoring over anything else. As for goaltending if I thought it necessary to make a plunge I’d gas Ullmark and sign Holtby. I’d prefer to leave it the same as long as Ullmark’s asking price and term are reasonable.

- Camel

So u want Ullmark to play at a 113points pace?
You’re asking him to go something like 30-12-5
That’s asking WAY too much
Need more out of your backup than 30pts in 35games

99.99% of calls are handled like this by officers all around the country. Then one does something bad after hundreds of millions of calls and all of a sudden police are murderers and are all untrained 🙄🙄

I liken it to a plane crash. In the event it happens, it makes national media. Because of the destruction of life and the rarity of the event.
