More training would increase violent crime?
Explain
- jdfitz77

He's suggesting that police not have the threat of lethal force due to "more training". Any criminal with an IQ above 40 is going to know he's less at risk. They will get bolder.

That’s a hefty leap
-jdfitz77

Don’t go trying to walk it back now
You know FULL WELL that why i was talking about was the use of lethal force
That’s evidenced by your reply in bold

I call bullsh!t

It makes zero sense that saying more training to not use lethal force will result in more violent crime
Fattony already said that’s how they’re being trained

- jdfitz77

If I am a policeman, mandated to try to disarm an armed criminal without a gun first, assuming that criminal has an average ability to use that gun, which is exactly what Gerbe was implying, I am at a major disadvantage, regardless of how much more or "better" training I get. I am not walking back anything. That is the situation Gerbe was suggesting. That is what I was responding to. And that situation would absolutely lead to an increase in violent crime. Criminals don't play by rules. That's why they're criminals. The fact that you jumped in mid conversation doesn't change that.

Remember when BJ Penn, a 5th degree black belt in Brazilian jujitsu and UFC Hall of Famer was knocked out outside of a bar. Should have had more training.

The police should have training that a normal person should not know ..

Honesty they should have all x combat people for Criminals and keep tickets and that stuff for the regular cops

- gerbe75pts

They do...they take 840 hours worth of training.

We do. It's called SWAT.

Again, i call bullsh!t
Your bolded statement makes no sense when they’re already being trained not to shoot to kill

U can keep trying to take it back to his original point
But that’s not what i was talking about
And it doesn’t make your bolded point valid in any way

You're ignoring the earlier part of our conversation where he said they should be able to disarm criminals without a gun. That was the entire basis for my response.

Remember when the president called the looters thugs? No not that president.

Still, the president lashed into the rioters who torched buildings and looted businesses in Baltimore a day earlier, calling them “criminals and thugs” who were destroying their own communities.

“That is not a protest. It is not a statement. It’s people, a handful of people, taking advantage of a situation for their own purposes — and they need to be treated as criminals,” Obama said from the White House.

“If someone has a knife, he should be able to disarm him without the use of a gun.”

Or something close to that.

Why don't they just equip cops with a Captain America shield so they don't need to shoot criminals

Perhaps we need more training for criminals so they too learn to shoot not to kill.

Facts not in evidence counselor
- jdfitz77

Bold the second sentence, too.
There's a reason anyone who is taught to shoot is told to aim center mass.
You try to haughtily dismiss my comment with, "Facts not in evidence", have you any facts to back up your Opinion?

Aim center mass.

If you miss, you have a greater chance at wounding and slowing.

It's because a lot of the suburban officers are helping downtown. Clarence doesn't even have a police force. They have Sheriff's and Trooper stations.

I’d bet it also has to do with (especially in Hamburg and Eden) we have guns and will protect our families.

Last thing I want to do is pull a gun on someone, but I will to protect myself and family in my own home.

It doesn’t matter unfortunately, people see and hear what they want to. It’s just bizarre to me that if you ask the question, “How were race relations from 2008-2016?” Most African Americans would probably respond not great, yet they are supporting the guy that had a hand in that?

I’m ignoring it bc that’s not what WE were talking about
And it wasn’t the ENTIRE BASIS for your response

Do i have to continue to repost your words about lethal force & criminals getting bolder
I’ve already proven by your own words that we moved well past Gerbe’s point you keep trying to walk it back to

So I’ll say my point again to make it crystal clear

More training, training which they already get,
to not “shoot to kill” will absolutely not result in more violent crime

I have statements from a cop who on here says they aren’t trained to shoot to kill

So more of the training they already get will not result in more violent crime
That’s utterly stupid

So much ignorance in this thread. Cops make 30-50 grand to start and you want them trained as ninjas? They do train in firearms and defensive tactics their whole career. Just because Biden and some of y'all don't think a knife is a weapon doesn't mean it isn't. You shoot to stop the threat. Guy goes down, stop shooting. He drops his weapon, stop shooting. We're trained in this so much that it becomes muscle memory. I would love to see one of you try shooting the moving leg of someone running at you to kill you. It's ridiculous to even consider. My advice for you all is to arm yourselves, fortify your homes, and don't become a victim. There's plenty of evil out there who do plenty of bad things.

Race relations as a whole have never been great. I do not blame the African community for being upset. I’m all for the peaceful protests.

Get a permit and let your voice be heard. It is your right as an American citizen to do so.

You do not have a right to loot and destroy a community. That is a criminal act.

If there is a curfew abide by it.

If you are out past curfew you are subject to penalties.

If you resort to violence, unfortunately only violence will be brought upon you. You know what, law enforcement has more tools to bring the violence to you if pushed in that direction.

It’s the sad reality.
