Social media companies have been hiding behind immunity that they don't deserve as they've attempted to become arbiters of truth for far too long. Facebook did the complete opposite and actually took a good stance on the matter.

The big social media companies are fence sitters. They want the immunity to not be sued for things people say but they also want to police what people say.
