There was something horrifying about the look on Chauvin’s face as he knelt on George’s neck. There was such arrogance and confidence that he had complete power over someone and that there was absolutely nothing wrong with what he was doing.

Everyone acts like this is some one-off problem. Police forces have been told what to do minimize confrontations and deaths. Choke holds should be outlawed. They are unnecessary and dangerous. All kinds of recommendations have been made and ignored.

Meanwhile Trump tells cops not to worry about roughing up prisoners, encourages NYPD to get more aggressive, brags about vicious police dogs and encourages MAGAt to confront protesters at the White House.

You’re right that it’s everywhere including here. The US however is running out of time to deal with its racism, poverty and social and economic injustice. Hopefully the anger at play now can get channelled into action that brings change. Ironically, it may be easier to get reforms in policing than to ever achieve any real economic equality.

If you truly believe the leaders, the governments, the powerful people in a country are at their core truly hateful racists, why the (frank) would kneeling at a football game get them to change their minds? Moreso, why would you think rioting would change their minds?

Daryl Davis is an excellent example of a black man who converted KKK members just by playing music, talking to them, befriending them and talking through the issues he sees in society as a form of peaceful protest that actually made a difference.
