my european view on US and its crazy system:
* a policy officer can take a 2nd job - as a security guard. the potential conflict of interest created by that is absurd. in particular if that police officer is a racist and has violent tendencies.
* an ex-convict - a guy who was incarcerated for 5 years because he had robbed a lady in her own house at gunpoint - can work as a security guard.
*both these guys end up working at the same place.
* eventually one guy kills the other one.
* people cry out institutional racism. while that is surely part of the case, it seems ignorant to leave all the other stuff out.

Who ever would have guessed that tear-gassing non-violent protesters to do a photo opp in front of a church would go badly?

I agree this is a big concern.
How is it a recent concern though?
US national and foreign policy has been exactly like that during the last 30+ years - not just the last 4 years.
Don't you think it's a bit naive to be surprised that a State would treat its own citizens like that, while bombing small children in other countries? - MaximusAurelius
Polonium tea, anyone? The "Chechnyan variety" is explosively strong, I hear...
Or perhaps Syrian chemical soup? Lovely on a summer's day! |

None of this is a recent concern. The problems are horribly entrenched. Obama was making the most timid efforts to change things and Trump has reversed every one of those efforts. On racism he has gone farther. From coming down the escalator to declare his candidacy and calling Mexicans killers and rapists, to his Muslim ban in his first day, to his wall and camps he has stoked already existing racial divisions at every opportunity. This goes way beyond saying very fine people.
Over these protests he has made no effort to respond to the underlining concerns of racism.
And yes, it is surprising that the US is turning its military on its own people. As you acknowledged they have been bombing and killing around the world forever. Other than Nixon, this is new poop. Remember?

Maybe to you - but in Europe and other parts of the world, it definitely isn't that surprising.
It's just a next step in the constant abuse of US citizens that has been going on in the US for decades - starting with the lack of access to proper public education and public healthcare.

this is factual untrue.
Marner's camp was willing to sign before start training camp 2018/2019.
their ask was 8-9mln AAV on a long term deal (5y+).
Dubas didn't want to do that.
Only after that option was removed from the table, Marner's camp indicated they would not be interested in signing before Nylander & Matthews. - MaximusAurelius
So Marner's agent going on Overdrive and saying those exact words is factually untrue? |

Ivanka certainly planned her “race riot” outfit very carefully; smart black pantsuit with matching mask, stylish high heels and an oversized white purse.
Any ideas on what was in Invaka’s purse for her riot walk? |

Yes. Agents lie to make the team look good and not the player they represent. |

Most of us are in Canada. News flash - your 'European View' is neither interesting, insightful, nor any different than what is discussed daily in any Tim Hortons coffee shop anywhere in Canada. |

The Episcopal Bishop went nuts as well. Said she couldn’t believe it when she saw him there while watching t.v. Of course, it can’t be a real religion if they have female Bishops. |
